Feng shui and the state of your soul!

An underlying principle in feng shui is that everything is connected. From this perspective, it makes sense to look at your environment as part of a whole—so within, so without—your home as a reflection of mind, body, spirit. This thought can be a little unsettling but when you take on a neglected part of your home, just know there is always a correlation to some aspect of your life.

One of our friends recently shared the idea that her garage represents the state of her soul—whoa, now that may be going too far. . . (says the Pam who has a big garage project in her near future). As one of the most personal places, the state of your bedroom may be the most telling—messy bed, messy head? If this idea feels a little overwhelming to you, try clearing just one area to keep sacred that can serve as a happy symbol for what nurtures you most.

Bring love into your life with an altar.

Setting intentions for what you want to manifest in your life is a powerful tool in feng shui. Once you are clear on your intention, you want to breathe life into it. Creating an altar is one way to deepen your intention by choosing items that symbolize your vision. The ritual of honoring your altar deepens your spiritual connection with what you are “calling” in.

An altar can be as simple as a tray with a few items that are special to you or as elaborate as you choose to make. Whatever speaks to you!

Our example of a love altar contains rose quartz (the stone of universal love), a book of love poems, sage to generate wisdom and clarity, flowers for the language of love, a happy photo of a loving couple, and a candle for sacred ritual.

Love is in the air! With Valentine’s Day this weekend and subtle signs of spring popping up, it’s time to talk about LOVE. Do you know your home has eight different energy areas called the BAGUA and one of them is your Love and Relationship area. To find this area of your home, stand in the main entrance and look to the back right of your home’s layout—including any attached structures such as decks, garages, and porches. You may find part of this area even lies outside your home if your home’s footprint is non-rectangular.

Here is what to do once you find this LOVE gua or energy area:
1) Make sure it is clutter free and clean. Bonus: open the windows, burn a little sage, ring a bell or clap your hands to wake up the energy.
2) Set an intention for what you want to manifest in terms of love and relationship.
3) With this intention in mind, enhance this area with items that affirm your vision of love. Ideas include special photos of your partner (or images of the love life you are “calling in), pairs of things to symbolize partnership, colors of pink and red, flowers, mementos of love, and crystals such as rose quartz.

If your Love and Relationship gua lies in a challenging area such as a garage or bathroom, think outside the box. Declutter and place at least one powerful symbol in this area to anchor the energy of love. Then find the Love and Relationship area in each room (back right corner) and add extra enhancements in those places to strengthen the power of love throughout other areas of your home. Intention is a major part of the magic!
