I’m on a sabbatical folks…and occasionally I’ll post something that strikes my artistic eye 👁️
In celebration of Mother’s Day….honoring our Mom’s if they are still here, passed on to their next expression, if you are a Mom and even honoring those of us who didn’t get to have our own….but ‘Mothered’ others 💖
All of the magnificent stone is in place. Braced and secured to dry, with perfection!
Bringing in this top piece was a nailbiter! I’ve been showing a bit of the progression in my reels over the last few days. All of the stone is in! Next photo I’ll show the rough-install reveal!!
Dr. Seuss strikes again!! Just freakin’ love nature! I’ve been taking a little hiatus, this Summer, from Instagram. Love Instagram! I’ve begun gathering organic and creative ideas, not quite Seuss-like, but creative nonetheless!! I’ll be back mid-September with all new projects. Remodel walk-throughs…..I’ve been hearing that these are a fave!! 💖
Funny . . . not funny?
I'm often asked if I watch HGTV. If captive for an appointment somewhere and it's playing, yes. There are some very entertaining and inspiring shows. They ignite passion in many and that's of great value.
On the flip side, often the show can be misleading, when it comes to cost and duration. This is especially true of remodeling! The shows can bring in an instant tribe to make things happen and often get materials at special rates. The other misnomer is that some small, rural, out-of-the-way towns don't have the same demand as say, Bend, Portland, Seattle, etc.
If you get inspired, turned on, cranked up . . . then yay! Hire a designer 😜
True in life . . . True in design 💙
Brick laying pattern???
When considering how I'm going to lay out any tile, I like to lay it out 'dry', so that my client can see my choice before saying . . . GO!
I love the traditional brick-lay format, especially when running it horizontally to the entry. Then the pattern pops upon entry to the space, in this case, the Master Bath. Occasionally, I will find that the biggest bang is once you're actually in the room. Then I'll choose to orient the tile vertically upon entry. It's a design thing!
There are other options as well, many in fact. Another format is 1/3 offset. This can be lovely, too, when the brick-lay has been used elsewhere.
What's your fave?
Heated tile floors . . . have you ever seen the installation process?
Such a 'cool' system, "WarmWire". This is a system where all of the parts are integrated. The electrician leaves a wire, near the floor, so that it can all be hooked up with ease. This connects to a thermostat, for ease of setting your ideal temp.
I love this detail, especially for Central Oregon! Not only does it make for a super feel under foot, but can also heat the space.
"WarmWire" is an integrated system, including the mat you see here with a groove that allows the tile installer to select a grid to distribute the heat evenly throughout the room.

The Privilege of a Lifetime is Being Who You Are.
I saw this just recently and had to save and share. It speaks to my heart and soul of who I am, and who I am becoming. As I get older, the more I realize what a treasure our time on this planet is! I've been writing of this more and more lately . . . letting go of the past that limits and stepping into an authentic future that is bright with freedom and authenticity.
Being an Interior Designer feels like a privilege to me. Designing for others, using my given talents, and creating sanctuary. I feel honored that this has been my career for 30 years now. I can't imagine not Being Who I Am!
What an inspiring tapestry of global color 🙏
Copperstone paint selections . . .
As I consider cabinet colors, stone countertop finishes, tiles and their various reflective qualities, I need a paint that feels symbiotic and brings everything together into a cohesive design.
While the plumber and I calculated the shower component placement this morning, I moved onto some paint possibilities while he was banging around!!
I always look to my client's "homework" to see what they had in mind for FEEL of this Master Suite. That is never far from my mind. I hold that primary and then I search to see what colors speak to the materials which have been selected.
Next, I will be ordering large samples from to tape onto the wall, for the final pick!!
Do you LOVE or SQUIRM when it comes to picking paint colors?? 😜
Demo Day at Copperstone!
Introducing Copperstone!
My favorite kind of day . . . DEMO! Master bedroom and bath are being gutted today. The bath, in particular, will receive a whole new look and a completely different configuration. The last last few months I've been measuring, drawing, designing and selecting finishes, colors and textures. Fun stuff for this designer!
I will be showing you my process over the next couple of months. This one is going to go quickly. Everything was ordered in advance. Only items that were in stock, so no back orders!
Watch the progress as I show updated videos as we proceed. There will be a striking difference in the flow and function of this outdated master bath.
Please see story, that was just added today!! Double click if you enjoy my videos . . .
Happy Sunday to you!!! 😜
Love this!
I've always been inspired by this whimsical and brilliant quote. So simple and so true. Letting go of limiting thoughts, which often follow us from the past, and stepping into the possibilities that dream us.
So very cool 😎
Slow reveal of what's to come!
Meanwhile, up in Seattle, a waterfront home beacons. A referral from one of my favorite Seattle couples....an opportunity for some remodeling and all new furniture. Exciting!
My client is leaving a traditional, Arts and Crafts-style home, up on prestigious Capitol Hill. The home is filled with lots of dark gorgeous woods and deep tones. Many happy years there . . . but time for some bright, light-filled, beachy colors and textures. Kinda like being on vacation every day!
I will be sharing this project over the next months and throughout the Summer. Not such a bad spot to work my magic 🤩
My happy place!
Mt. Bachelor, Bend, Friends, Skate Skiing, Sunshine, Nordic Center . . . all things near and dear to my heart. Sharing an epic ski day with pals, with the sun shining on my face, brings a deep joy that sustains me until the next adventure.
What brings warmth to your heart?
Throwback to a time.... of a very special client of mine.
My clients, a Seattle couple, with some very unique needs. Wheelchair accessibility AND beautiful. Everything in this master bedroom was custom designed, from the headboard wall treatment, the bed frame, nightstands and the bedding.
This included specific height adjustments and requirements, padded bed rails, and bedding that could be maneuvered while in a chair. We did it! A master bedroom that they loved, and lived in, with ease.
I love bringing great joy and functionality to my favorite folks!
Honoring International Women's Day.
I'm not wishing you a "Happy" day, but an "Honoring" day. In some parts of the globe, this may not be such a happy time. It CAN be a day of blessing who we are, no matter what we may be facing.
Sunday travels to inspire!
Do you dream of romantic settings such as this? Traveling to beautiful countries and experiencing sensual delicacies inspire design within me. Gorgeous vistas, blended with tastes and smells, perhaps touching local textiles while conversing with a local artisan and experiencing local culture.....are all inspirations for design.
My travels have always resulted in an excitement to rush back home and put at least a few unique touches into my projects. It's the FEELING that we wish to capture and recreate? A memory of an epic adventure?
I love to gift my clients with a little something special that is birthed in my exploration.
What part of the world awakens your inner spirit?
Thank you Web Foot Painting!!
I often receive referrals from . This home is right off Century Drive and is nestled in the glorious rocks of Central Oregon. What a great color palate to work with. Wow!
The clients love their super cool location and it is time for a new look. They desire a more contemporary vibe and wanted a little bit of COLOR, out of the ordinary, for their location. Many of the neighbors have grey homes (which look fabulous, by the way), but they wanted to spice it up!
I often look to nature when making my selections, especially when the home is in such a natural setting. Swipe right 👈 to see my color suggestions. I used a Grey (to ground the base of the house) and actually tie in with the neighborhood. It also looks stunning with the boulders. Then I used a Green that picks up some of the Blue Spruce trees that are at the front of the home. The warmer neutral (on the right) was my pick, for trim. Connects, again, with those cool boulders and will also blend nicely with the natural wood elements (Cedar) on the home.
When you're making a big investment on the exterior of your home, you want to fall in love with those tones. I will be posting the after pix, once it warms up and Web Foot is on the scene.
Do you have exterior challenges with your home?
A little Saturday humor for ya!
A few years ago I was attending a design conference in Vancouver, BC. Heading to the "Bean" each morning was a close and tasty option. One of my design pals snapped this pic as he was walking by. Still cracks me up to this day.
This is what happens if you're too picky, regarding dating . . . so I'm told.
What inspires you?
Phoebe is a Wheaten Terrier that is the coolest kid in town! I LOVE this girl! Her mom is an amazing artist and sometimes Phoebe likes to get in on the action. I adore how she wants to be silly, get some loving attention and photobomb. Ha!
I'm truly inspired by AUTHENTICITY and who does that better than a beloved pup. They live in the moment, pretty much love everyone that's kind and they don't give a rip what you look like in the morning. My favorite kind of pal 🤩

Ta Da!
Wow! What a transformation of the kitchen and main living space of the Century Drive water-damaged home. The last I shared was the process of selecting the stone for both the island and perimeter. Process complete....Swipe left to see the before!!
The couple that experienced all of this trama and disruption couldn't be happier to finally be home. Their patience has paid off, as they had originally been planning to sell their home. After receiving such a beautiful new update and an epic new kitchen, they chose to KEEP the house! That's always news to my ears.
Sometimes a remodel, or new furniture, can be just what you need to newly love your home.
Are you looking to fall in love, newly, with your home?
My favorite word . . . Sanctuary.
The question was asked . . . I answered.
Diana, where's the finished art installation?
I recently showed the juxtaposition of the organic art placed against the linear travertine fireplace wall. Here ya go!
When I originally began this project, the fireplace was a tiny box sitting on the floor of the living room. Kind of shocking, considering the location, the stunning views and the elite status of the structure. This main living space needed some wow-factor.
If your curious about the curation of this art piece, by Matthew Murray, scroll back to February 10th. It indeed makes this room "sing"!
What's trending in design?
I am sometimes asked this question. What's popular now with interior design? Great question, right? I will answer with what are the latest trends. If it's pertaining to a client's home, however, I suggest something quite a bit different.
What if we create a home, an interior, or as I like to say . . . SANCTUARY that lights you up?!! This is what I'm known for and have cultivated for the last 30 years. I want your home to be a space that is timeless and is YOU. A home that is as unique and special as you are. If you LOVE it . . . it will never go out of style.
