The West Bend Trails Project public scoping period is coming to an end 😯If you haven’t yet, it’s time to submit your comment!

The proposal offers enhancements to the trails directly west of Bend and Sunriver. This includes rerouting 8.8 miles of trail, adding 17.5 miles of trail, and changes to 57 miles of roads.

This package focuses on providing better trail connectivity, improving confusion trail intersections, and managing recreation to improve
wildlife. COTA is thrilled that the proposed project would enhance recreation while improving and preserving wildlife habitat!

Today was a leave work early and ride kind of day.

Dry Trails! 😃 Cascade View was perfect conditions today. Need some XC miles? Look no further. The new CV/Cline transfer we shall call “Thornburgh” was build by Bend’s top trail builder Paul Thomasberg and financed by Thornburgh. You can see it from the bowling pin at the top of Stinger East. Will add it to the site shortly.

Crawled out of the fog and Rode T ridge SF today and we were treated to sunshine 🙂

Also cleared the lumber on Southfork.

Some snow up high on the trail edges but it’s all riding great for this time of year.

Edison lava is clear! Or is it lava edison? 2 crews hit it from both ends today. IFPL 3 is coming in hot - and chainsaw shutdown will be very soon. We wonder what shall become of the beloved Flagline trail. 2 weeks away!

Escaped the smoke in the Ochocos today. Round + lookout was running well. A few down trees on round (north) which will need a chainsaw. All close together about half way up.

Great day at today. Super fun. Melting fast. More and more trails are opening up. Boom. 🤙🏼

Thankful for the hardwork to clear Northfork/Met win the other day! Thanks Don Leet, .the.dog.walker and Mike Pulzone. 102 trees! Still a few snow patches on Northfork before happy valley but not an issue.

TRAIL CLEARING DAY!

Wow - so thankful for all the swampers and sawyers who came out today! I think we had a total of 18 people. Insane! Thank you Joe Myers, Don Leet, Tim Girone, Lev Stryker, Kevin Hopper, John Molloy, Emily Keddie, Paul Mueller, Michelle Brandt, Jeff Johnson, Joe Ortner, Dave O, Dave Patterson, Jeremy Rockwell, Dan Peterson, Ryan Pedersen, Beth Boatright, Glenn Tomchik. Did we miss anyone?

We finished before noon as thunder claps were going off over head - but we all made it out dry.

Cleared today: Swede ridge, Southfork, swampy west and east, both swampy cross overs and SST.

Most of the remaining snow is on Swampy West. Pockets of ride-able(ish) snow on Southfork and a couple on swede.

Royal Flush is getting some touch ups as there is moisture in the soil and dirt is packing nicely! Where their isn’t enough moisture water is being added for compaction by hand and plate compactor. Please note that work is being done till about 4pm today and tomorrow. Basically 9am to 4pm both days. Be prepared to slow down and potentially walk your bike if asked. Snow is clear and trail is actually in amazing shape. Just a few areas needing some love.
