My friend (and branding genius) Kait , once asked me how I would describe Pomegranate if they were a person. It took me no time at all to drum-up my response, because I know exactly who she is:

Pom is quirky and warm. She is extremely well-traveled but not uppity at all; just cultured and wise from all she has experienced. She is a great storyteller and an even better listener. Her friends say that she is a mind-reader because she is so intuitive to the needs of others. But she also has this beautiful boundary of protection around her, like nothing ruffles her feathers, surprises her, or overwhelms her. In this way, she is quite calm and captivating. I think her most prominent archetype would be something like The Benevolent Queen. She looks most at-home in the kitchen or the garden, barefoot, snipping herbs or arranging a vase of flowers on the countertop 🌸

There are a lot of factors I consider when I’m choosing what to stock on the shop shelves, but I come back to this again and again. Today has been exceptionally slow, but between my daily tasks I’ve used the quiet ebb to reflect on the beauty of this living, breathing space, where she has been and where she is headed.

Here comes our favorite time of the year, when the remarkable flower farmers from (there’s 21 of them!) descend upon The Cottage at Pom EVERY FRIDAY with buckets, baskets, and arms full of fresh flowers. Local flowers are JOY — adorn your home, your desk, gift a bouquet, and know that each bloom has been tended to by a local farmer. See you there!

My mom, Kami, is unmatched in my eyes. I’m so grateful for all the ways that she supports me, loves my babies, and cheers me on. I know Mother’s Day can be bittersweet for some and grief-filled for others, and I count my lucky stars that I get to celebrate my mama today and all days. Good mothers really make the world go ‘round!

However you choose to move through today, I honor you and your experiences of motherhood, of being mothered. Sending big love to you all.

Seemingly tiny changes — like a new set of gingham curtains lovingly sewn by my mom — makes this place feel more and more like an extension of me 🤎 It’s been a slow and steady process of discovering the ways in which Pomegranate is evolving with little ‘ol me at the helm. And then also parsing through the ways in which this magical place remains steadfast in its origins; the beloved French soap is here to stay! I’m ever-so grateful to the folks who have been welcoming of this evolution, who celebrate the little bits of change without hesitancy, because it reminds me how alive this shop is. Sunday’s watercolor workshop was so beautiful and creative 🪺 It was my first day back at the shop for a full day, alone, since Lewis’ arrival and it was made extra special by getting to peek in on the glorious creations happening in The Cottage.

Sandy () is truly an incredible instructor. She makes everything so accessible and she also believes deeply in the artist that resides within each one of us. Her workshops are surprising, playful, and never devoid of lively conversation! What an honor it is to host her 🕊️

We were not anticipating such a huge turnout and The Cottage was packed with books — the most beautiful sight 😍 We will definitely be doing this again and making a true, full weekend of it. We’ll probably extend it into the front yard and will definitely be implementing an organizational system for easy browsing, too.

Fire Cider Crafting | Medicine for body, mind, and soul ✨❤️ What an absolute treat to have share her gifts, wisdom, and passion with the Pom community in The Cottage this last Sunday. The little room smelled so rich; aromatic herbs, spicy peppers, roots and pine. Busy hands chopped, spoons clinked, voices of connection filled the space. It felt so deeply cozy and inviting and made my heart sing. One of those moments of, “everything has fallen into perfect place.” Thank you, Madeline ❤️ We can’t wait to have you back!

Seeing even the smallest visions come to fruition is such a rewarding part of shopkeeping 📚🕯️Many months ago, I had this distinct and clear desire to have a dedicated cookbook book case and a new place to hang our pretty aprons. Now, here it is! These seemingly little changes actually take a lot of planning — thoughtful ordering, removing or swapping out furniture, reorganizing lots of merchandise — no easy feat with a new baby in tow, so a lot of help and time is required. But, oh, it’s so fun to see it all come together! Next up: more taper candles in every color and MORE COOKBOOKS❤️

’s Brush Lettering classes are always a big hit and such a fun time of connection and creativity 💕

I actually took a calligraphy class from Casey in 2016 or 2017. That was before motherhood for both us, when Casey was focusing on her lettering business and I was a Marketing Director. A lifetime ago. Now we are both busy moms/business-owners/creatives, living out our dreams in a whole different way!

I’m ever so grateful that Casey continues to share her gorgeous skills and her kind spirit with the Pom community ❤️ And look at all of this color and fun from Saturday’s workshop!

Let me introduce you to my new favorite product on the shop shelves: The Original Tinned Fish Candle. Cheerful and surprising, it makes a delightful gift for just about anyone but particularly for your tinned fish-obsessed friend (ahem — it’s me) 💙🐟 The scent is a divine blend of olive oil & sea salt; bright and airy and fresh. “I smell like the ocean breeze!” proclaim the fish on the tin and, yes, I quite agree. Come snag this tiny treat before they all get scooped-up!

Bring that pile of books your kids have lost interest in; the book you bought for a college course that is still somehow on your shelf; the novels you’ve read or the ones collecting dust despite your new year resolution; the murder mystery series that was a wee bit too spooky; the crockpot cookbook that Aunt Carol gave you that you simply can’t use because you don’t own a crockpot… You catch my drift!

Please only bring books that are in good used condition — no loose or missing pages ❤️

This year was personally very difficult for our family, but time and again we were met with such encouragement and generosity from the community that surrounds Pomegranate, particularly with the arrival of our sweet Lewis (pictured here, looking very surprised!).

Thank you for choosing to support this special shop and this little family; our gratitude surpasses all words. The heart-centered reciprocity that I only could have imagine when I first held the keys to the shop has come true in the most beautiful ways. We love you and wish you all the best in this coming year ✨🥂🕯️
