Project Bike
The bike shop you’ve always wanted. A new place to inspire and support the Central Oregon cycling community.
Throwing shapes above the Old Mill with captured by
With trips to Whistler unfolding, Laps up at happening daily, we think of bikes like this Demo DH.
When you’re a gravity hungry enthusiast, nothing quite satiates your appetite like a proper downhill rig! This Demo is a prime example of a clean & proper build with everything you need and nothing you don’t.
Starting with suspension wanted to go full . The new Boxxer has been mind blowing in tractions, and erasing all but the largest of bumps. The rear Vivid Coil feels like a Baja truck pinned through a whoops section - you’ve seen the videos.
The next most important thing when you’re hunting the steepest of steeps, is the new Maven brakes. It is truly one of the few parts that everyone here at the shop has just stopped in their tracks about 😉. For a gravity oriented rider, it’s a no brainer.
If you’re interested in building your dream park/race/shuttle rig - let’s talk.
Who else has been escaping the heat and getting up to ? With more trails opening every week we think it’s the place to be.
It was a pretty fun experience to have two Stumpjumpers on the trail this afternoon - only difference was there was 40 years of technological advancement that separated the two bikes.
With seemingly endless releases of bikes that happen year after year, it’s easy to feel jaded in this world of ours. However, seeing that disparity up close in person, you can really see how those incremental gains over that 40+ years have formed one of the best mtn bikes ever made.
The “old school” Stumpjumper is a 1984 original with only 50 original miles. Although we talked to let the old steed shred some moon dust and we were all glad he did. Safe to say a few more miles were gladly put on the bike!
It’s here - meet the new Stumpjumper 15!
Since 1981 the Stumpjumper has set the stage for what a mountain bike should be - the 15th iteration is no different.
Do you ever feel that brands promise pedal efficiency, and a bottomless DH feel, yet leave you hungry for more? Specialized answered with the Fox Genie shock technology! The Genie shock will turn your favorite trail ride into a magic carpet ride with unparalleled small bump compliance.
Climbs will have measurably more traction than its predecessor, six way geometry adjust, mixed or 29”, 63-65.5° head angle adjustments, as wells as BB height adjustments.
Buying a new bike shouldn’t be a compromise, and with the new Stumpjumper 15, it is not.
One bike to rule all trails. 🤘🏻
With bike park riding right at our doorstep, we wanted to touch bases with one of the industries leading enduro bikes.
Local ripper and friend of the shop slowed down on a rowdy local trail long enough for us to snap a few photos & see how he’s liking the new rig!
The brand new Altitude is becoming a worthy companion for the world’s fastest racers. We’re not sure what magic Rocky used to create such a capable bike. In the most extreme of terrain it handles chunk with unwavering composure, while giving off a “peppy” energetic feel out of corners and on flatter trails. It’s the balance of a bike we are all yearning for when we try to get the equation of efficiency vs performance.
Talking with he explained how this version of VPP suspension might just be his favorite feeling suspension kinematics he’s used (even coming off of last generations altitude). He’s also very excited for seeing how it handles at Whistler in the coming weeks - not a bad testing grounds eh?
Nick’s favorite part on the new build is for certain his Maven brakes** no part has stopped him in his tracks like these 😉
Shop ride Tuesday June 25th! Summer is in full swing and we’re ready to shred!

We are looking forward to the warmer months here at the shop!
We’ve also been enjoying the heck out of seeing all your lovely faces at the weekly shop rides, you all make it worth it. So thank you so much for the great turnouts we’ve been having 🙏🏻
If there’s any ideas or fun stuff you want to ride, we’re all ears!
*This is some of the squad out earlier this season enjoying the good dirt while it’s here! Although embracing the dust is part of the game here in our beautiful desert oasis!
It’s not officially summer yet, and we are in full swing here!
We love it - talk of summer road trips to go rip new trails, a cool plunge in the river after a scorching alpine lap, it’s why we all ride!
The shop is locked and loaded with all the new suspension from in the limited gold color-way 😮💨 future custom builds we are talking to you. We also are carrying some fun new summer riding threads, including our own s/s jersey.
We should also mention some really awesome deals for complete bikes, some come on down and take advantage of our demo program and find the right bike for you!
- PB team
🚨FRESH THREADS ALERT🚨 Available now, our new line of PBRT (Project Bike Race Team) apparel. Starting with a limited run of these Tech Tees. They’re great for between the tape racing, going for a chill after work cruise, or even just chilling off the bike. We want these shirts to give our community an option to represent the shop without the loudest branding.
Worn by our race team, and available for purchase by all. Swing by the shop to check them out!
New 2025 Factory forks and dropper posts are in stock and ready for your next dream build!
The lineup has received updates including new dampers, revised bushings, and a very gold 50th anniversary limited edition color way.
The new GRIP X2 damper replaces GRIP 2, with the same adjustments, but an increased range of tunability, and a bump in performance. GRIP X replaces the FIT4 damper, but is designed very similarly to GRIP X2, and simplifies adjustability for broader range of riders.
2025 Transfer dropper posts have been completely redesigned, featuring lighter actuation, tool-free travel adjustment in 5mm increments, and up to 240mm of drop. This 3rd generation Transfer can be serviced in shop!
Drop by the shop to see the new stuff!
Instinct custom build!
It’s quite often our customers ask for the one bike quiver. That bike that can ride the chunky trails up at Mt Bachelor, all the way down to the flowing single-track at Phil’s.
Where we excel at a shop is to describe each nuance of each the bike under that “all mountain” umbrella. We offer many of those exact bikes from so of the most esteem brands in the industry.
So what sets the Rocky Mtn Instinct apart? Apart from being a shop favorite amongst staff - it’s one of the most lively bikes in this category. Progressive suspension kinematics have this bike energetically attacking all trails in its path. This updated version also has some fun new upgrades this year. It is now an independent platform, no longer sharing a frame with its bigger brother the Altitude. What this means to us is, a lighter frame, internal frame storage (penalty box 🇨🇦), ride 4 position flip chip, headset reach adjust + or - 5mm, and lastly the chain stay adjust by 10mm.
All those features, with anywhere from 140 to 160mm of travel, make this one spectacular do it all bike! With a couple builds out the door, we’ve also been enjoying “beefing” up the builds to handle more aggressive terrain - albeit not missing any of the great pedaling characteristics.
One would say… follow your instincts, you will be rewarded!
Happy Memorial Day! A quick update on tomorrow’s shop ride: we are going to try moving the timing back slightly to 6:30 to allow more employees to make it on the ride. If this timing isn’t great for others out there we can move it forward again in the future.
Project Bike shop ride Tuesday May 28:
Meet at the bottom of Tyler’s Traverse at 6:30 and we will ride up Afternoon Delight and do a lap of Royal Flush, then head back down Afternoon Delight to cap it off! See you there!
This S-Works Tarmac SL8 looks as if it was carved out of marble from the Italian Dolomites. All to create the most exquisite piece of road bike technology.
This SL8 is donning the brand new RED AXS group set. As we stated before, the initial feedback has been unreal. There’s often times new stuff comes out and the hype doesn’t come close to ACTUAL expectations - however this new group-set has left us satisfied.
The new 353 wheels are absolutely mad. Buzzwords like hyperfoil nodes & sawtooth rim don’t do justice on just how light and snappy this wheels feel under you. Rolling speed & acceleration are unparalleled - and they should be this good, weighing in around 1300 grams for a set.
What an awesome ride with a great new product, and even better people.
Getting some miles out on the new drivetrain was revelatory. Wasn’t sure how could make the previous generation group set better - but goal achieved! Almost 200 grams lighter, more ergonomic lever design (fantastic never feel too), and flawless crisp shifting throughout the range.
This weather had us yearning for some more road rides. 🤘🏻
Meet the all new Altitude! It’s bigger, badder, and ready for some serious speed.
We were very fond of the previous generation of this platform, and are psyched to see Rocky redesign the bike from the ground up. With a new suspension linkage design, and updated geometry, the Altitude truly takes Enduro riding and racing to the next level.
160/170mm of supple, yet supportive travel delivers traction and control on demand. It’s ready for anything you can throw at it.
We had the pleasure of building this stealthy rig for our guy . Nick loves crushing the steepest and rowdiest trails he can find. Enjoy buddy!
We have a full size run of new Altitudes available for demo. Give us a call to get one reserved for you!
🚨 High End product is being released this Wednesday!
To celebrate and to answer all question we will be doing moderate level group ride (road ride but gravel bikes are welcome). New product will be there and will be on a bike to show it off. Our SRAM rep will be there for any inquisitive folks! Should be super fun, if road & gravel is your jam, I wouldn’t miss out. 🤘🏻

If Batman had an XC bike?
This murdered out S-Works Epic Evo is the epitome of this category of bike. All the trimmings, and understated yet classy look - it exudes speed. A dimly lit tunnel at nighttime in Gotham city may have been a more appropriate place to take photos of this beauty.
This bike had very big shoes to fill with its predecessor. However, with trails becoming more rowdy, athletes going harder & faster, the updates to the new Epic Evo 8 had to adapt. For many this bike will be THE bike for 98% of the riding they do around Central Oregon. Undulating terrain through ponderosa forests, punctuated by lava rock & the occasional skinny? Want to rail those flat corners we have with ease? Peppy speed at a moments notice, and a touch more support in that front end for when things get dicey on funner?
The Epic Evo 8 is that in spades ♠️
Shop ride tonight!
May 7th
Tyler’s Traverse (to first road crossing)
6pm (roll out at 6:10 ish)
*parking at Tyler’s and along the road
Let’s get our corner practice on tonight. Tyler’s is flowy and fun and delivers many opportunities to lean that bike over and practice your cornering control. Should be a super fun ride - all levels of experience are welcome, can’t stress this enough! Weather should finally be pretty groovy too 🤙🏻
Last weeks Tuesday group ride was a little chilly… thanks to all that braved the snow to join us! We will be at whoops again tomorrow night. We hope to break out into a new trail next week. It will on the chilly side again, but it looks like temps will rapidly increase in the week to follow.
Ride for Tuesday May 7th:
Lower Whoops
Meet at 6:00pm. We will roll out around 6:10.
See you there!
Easily one of the best bikes we can recommend to someone. The Element is so good at pedaling, so behaved downhill, and such a VERSATILE platform it really brings to life that one bike quiver for Bend, Oregon.
This build is really the epitome of that exact bike.
Frame: Element
Cockpit: OneUp carbon bar/Enve alloy stem
Suspension: Pike Ultimate // Super Deluxe Ultimate
Wheels: Roval Traverse SL 2
Transmission: XX T-Type transmission
Post: Bikeyoke Revive
Saddle: S-Works Power Saddle
Brakes: Code Ultimate Stealth
Tires: Forekaster//Rekon Race
Looking for that XC/light trail bike? Look no further.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our second shop ride. It’s so amazing to get out on the trail with you all. We want to continue with these and make them more and more inclusive and fun for all! We’ll see you all on the trails again next week.
The second shop ride is tomorrow! We will be at whoops again since it’s riding sooo good. We where stoked on the turnout last week and hope to keep that rolling!
Tuesday April 22nd at 5:30pm
Bottom of lower whoops on road 300
Again, this will be a mellow paced single lap party shred.
See you there!
With all the Whoops laps we’ve been riding lately, it has us yearning for a bike just like this.
Capability, excellent rolling speed, & a build that gives us confidence in a flat landing or two!
The Element has been such an awesome platform for this type of riding. From Southfork, Greengate, and the undulating Phil’s terrain - it goes very well. Rider dependent, the element is a great cavas to cater to each individual rider. More XC, drop stem, full race horse builds OR light enduro bikes that hit 30ft gaps! We’ve seen firsthand the Element do it all & with style. 🤘🏻
Super psyched on the turnout for our first weekly shop ride!
We loved the enthusiasm & are grateful for all who showed up to have a good time. These are new for us so we are open to any feedback or recommendations for trails/format etc.
We loved seeing faces we are familiar with and new ones we are not as familiar with - truly makes the whole mtb experience worth it!
We will be updating weekly on which trail to go ride. So stay tuned on our Instagram as we will post details as we get closer to each Tuesday.
Ps. Thanks for letting us stick a camera in your face to capture the evening. :)
Join us! Tomorrow we are holding our first open invite shop group ride. Anyone and everyone is invited and we want to shred with you all!
Where: Lower Whoops trailhead on road 300
When: Tuesday April 16th at 5:30pm (we plan on making this a regular event!)
What: One chill paced party lap. This will be a no drop ride. Friendly conversation on the pedal up, and lots of smiles on the way down.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions! See you there!
went over to the “wet”side to see some good dirt and test out the new Instinct.
Consensus is very very good! Having ridden the previous generation Altitude for over a year, this new Instinct feels right at home. His build is a “BC” version with 160 up front and 150mm in the rear with the new trail erasing Vivid Ultimate. This new frame is more capable than before, stiffer, storage, and a head angle as slack as 63.5° 🤯 - having been attracted to that balance of enduro/trail bike, this new Instinct checks A LOT of boxes.
The other part that really deserves some more time in the sun is the new Mavens. Not directly marketed towards bikes with less than 160mm rear travel, but we can’t see why not? Running 180mm rotors front and rear & feels like I have significantly more stopping power on tap than I’ve had before. Can’t wait to get on steeper more sustained descents to see how heat & fade will work - Eula laps soon??
This is a rig we can see a lot of people falling in love with. From Phil’s to the bike park. Want to dabble in a few Enduros? Want to do ring of fire? A solid choice for the one bike quiver.
Ps. Forekaster for a rear tire this time of year 👌
Nicky’s brand new Instinct build!
This is his second time on an Instinct, previously coming off the last generation model. It was a no brainer for him as it just suits his riding style so well. Big rides, lots of vert, and fast gnarly descents with all the chunk you can handle.
Now the Instinct has updated the geometry a bit as well as updated some parts of the frame. It no longer shares the frame with its bigger brother the “Altitude”. So they made the instinct that much more capable to dabble into the enduro side of things. Stock 64° HA, steeper seat tube for pedaling performance, ride 4 instead of 9 making it a fair bit simpler for set up. also dialed in the penalty box for on the bike storage - best version we’ve seen yet!
Gonna dabble in a few enduro races? Love big rides in Oakridge? Phil’s? South fork? Even Bachelor bike park? The Instinct does it all in style!
Any questions regarding unique build, comment or DM!
Here it is! new Epic Evo - this time with more travel & a very “gravity” oriented build!
Tyler has built this new rig into a Swiss Army knife of an XC bike. With years as a pro xc racer he stood by the tried & true cockpit set up that he’s grown accustomed to. However this year he wanted a slightly beefier suspension setup for following his friends down rowdy enduro trails. He has still yet to find the limits of this bike.
This is a build many of us here at the shop are really psyched on for riding here locally. With bouncing between trails like Tiddly, South Fork, or even the newer rowdy stuff out east, it’s hard to think of a better pedaling platform.
Tyler also opted to run a few of his must haves. rotors for a very lightweight rotor and a nod to his high class taste. XX SL drivetrain for the best shifting he’s experienced. Under load, Whenever, where ever he can crank through gears and shift so succinctly, that the T-Type shifting is his go to choice.
Only a few rides on the new model, so we will keep you posted with how it performs as more trails open up.
How would you build up a new Epic Evo 8? Lean & mean? Beef it up?
