Swift County Sheriff’s Office would like to wish our Emergency Manager Bill McGeary a very happy retirement! Bill has served Swift County for 15 years as EM. Thank you Bill!
It's not so much the heat really, it's the humidity.
Weather update. Swift County plows will be out until 2:30pm this afternoon. By then they would have run all roads once and paved roads twice. After that they will be pulled until 6am tomorrow. Roads are icy with finger drifts from the winds. Some roads fill in soon after the plow goes through. Take it slow and drive safe.

PUBLIC NOTICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COUNTY SPRING ROAD RESTRICTIONS
BEGINNING FEBRUARY 26th, 2024
Seasonal load restrictions on County roads in Swift County will BEGIN Monday, February 26th, 2024.
County UNPAVED roads are limited to a 5-ton per axle load limitation by
State Law and all other county-paved roads will be posted. Axle limit signs
will be placed throughout the County advising vehicles of permitted axle weights.
Roadway strengths decrease rapidly in the spring when frost is going out.
This is caused by the high moisture content of thawing soils during this period.
Anyone wanting further information or a map showing the axle load restrictions on County Roads may call the Swift County Highway Department at 320-842-5251, or find the map at:
www.swiftcounty.com
Questions on State Highway restrictions should be directed to MnDOT at
800-723-6543.
