Bike Shop Joe's
A tiny but proud bike shop in Bentonville, Arkansas. Providing tailored service and sales to every person who comes through the door.
We have some exciting stuff to share over the next few posts! There are not one, but THREE live job postings we are looking to fill quickly. Help us spread the word and get the right folks in to help keep your bikes running smooth!
We are flexible with hours and skillsets - check with us to see how we could work together. Link to job postings in Instagram bio.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! If you need anything we are open until 4pm today, scooting out early to enjoy the evening with our friends and family. Normal shop hours Friday/Saturday! 🎇
Thinking and praying for everyone affected by last nights tornado. We have had multiple people check in, so this is our update. Haven’t made it to the shop yet but I’m assuming it’s fine. The family and I are all good, but we lost a big oak tree in our backyard, taking out our chimney and parts of our roof. Assuming we won’t have power the early parts of this week.
We hope this doesn’t affect shop hours this week, but will keep you all posted. That being said, anyone got a chainsaw? 😅
Look what arrived just in the nick of time 😅 We’ll be here all week normal hours, help us help you in your last minute Christmas gifts/requests! Watch the Stories this week for more ideas!
We’ve got limited stock right now, so call in to make sure we’ve got what you’re after!
Sew Bueno bags are stitched with love in Springfield, MO by our friend Rachel. The Burrito Bag hangs on all shapes and sizes of handlebars. All. Day. Long. So far we squeezed into it: a full repair kit, waay too many snacks, and exactly enough burritos.
‼️Group ride and other updates‼️
🚳 Sadly we are skipping 8th on 8th tonight, too much rain and shop chaos in the forecast, but look out for a Holiday Light Group Ride event soon! ✨
🔵 We were a little shy of our Sep/Oct $1,700 goal, but we got to cut a $1,500 check for at the end of October! Still amazing!
🏠Our featured organization of Nov-Dec is 🎉 there are 2 areas of Potter’s House we want to give towards as we wrap up this year. First is to collect new gifts/donations to help local families have a meal and giving season with each other around the holidays! The rest of the money we collect/% of sales will go towards the PH Benevolence program. This helps local families pay things like rent/utilities in times of need, especially as we gear up for the coldest months ahead. More info at the shop!
There are still 2 days left in the Big Ol Sale at the shop! Don’t miss the great deals and the chance to be a part of helping our neighbors this holiday season 🤍
BIG OL’ BIKE SALE! Come see us this week, Wednesday 12/6 - Saturday 12/9 to get killer deals for that special someone you’re shopping for (👀 ok ok you can look for yourself too!)
🚲
Everything in the shop will be marked down as well as any orders placed. There will also be a tent full of new and used gear at wild prices!
🤑
See ya Wednesday!
This is our fourth Thanksgiving in this humble little space. I won’t make this too long, just know we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this wild little corner of Arkansas and the community that lives here. You guys have allowed the shop to grow in the most natural way, allowing me to be a part of your story with bikes and allowing my life to have the balance it needs (okay, maybe I need to ride more).
I know it’s not New Years yet, but know that some changes are coming, events are coming [back 😅], and maybe we’ll have some merchandise with our name on it (SEND HELP!).
I cannot make a post without mentioning the MVP’s. Jason, Alex, David, and Donovan have turned this place into the beautiful mess it is today and I can never thank them enough.
Thank you for everything you all do for us. We hope you all have had an amazing Thanksgiving.
See you on Saturday!
Love,
BSJ
HEADS UP - CLOSING EARLY TODAY! The shop will close at 4pm today and open normal hours tomorrow. Sorry for the late notice, I’m out here on west coast time 😜
Who’s ready to ride?! 8th on 8th is upon us! Wednesday 11/8 @ 6pm, leaving from the shop. Make sure you have your lights, it’ll be dark from the start. Could be the warmest November ride ever, come enjoy the last real day of summer 🫠
How it started vs how it ended. Don’t forget to pack your extra tubes and CO2 or pump out there! …not that we would EVER do that 👀
We're so excited to be partnering with for the next two months! Circles is a poverty reduction program that helps low-income individuals and families pursue upward mobility from poverty. It is unique in that the program flips the traditional mentorship model on its head to center the leadership of those who have experienced poverty. They are called Circle Leaders. Each Circle Leader is matched with 2-3 volunteer Allies who are in the role of supporter and friend and commit to walking alongside them as they set big goals to increase income, grow in their careers, and build connections in the community. Learn more about Circles at www.circlesnwa.org
Our goal for September/October is to raise $1,700 to help send their staff to a national training as they continue to grow and develop their chapter in their 3rd year! This money will help fund two of their staff members! Just by shopping with us, a portion of total sales will go towards this goal, or you can opt to make a donation towards Circles when you are at the shop. And to make it even better, there is a matching grant, so all donations will be doubled up to $1,000 and $25+ donations will receive a Circles T-shirt, while supplies last! Let's continue on our trend this year and crush this goal!
On Wednesday November 1st, Circles is having a "Big View" event where the community can come learn about the barriers around housing in NWA from the perspective of those most affected by the problems. Join us in Fayetteville on Wednesday at 6:30, and stay tuned for a link to register for the even as the date draws closer 🎉
We feel about as awkward as Big Ron here that we have been so slow on the nonprofit updates 🫣 Let’s get caught up!
1️⃣ Looking back, we never posted the total amount we raised for Canopy during May-June, which was $2,390 plus 3 full welcome kits 👏🏼
2️⃣ July-August has wrapped up and we’ll be cutting a check for $1,470 to NWA BMX 🎉
3️⃣ Swipe to see who our next featured organization is for September-October!! 👀
HEAD’S UP! As always, we are giving you PLENTY of notice for some shop hours happening (or not) this weekend 👀 Friday we will have reduced hours (10-4) then you won’t see us until Wednesday! Sorry for any inconvenience, and have a great weekend!
Please take a second to read wise words from our friends . There are reasons we have chosen the brands we have in our shop. This is our approach to business - We want you to find that bike that endures time and trends, even if that means it’s the last one you buy.
📢
YOUR BIKE ISN’T OBSOLETE!
As a bike company, Rodeo is supposed to encourage conspicuous consumption and relentless upgrading, if people don’t keep buying our stuff we’ll shrivel up and disappear. But here’s the thing: Just because we are refining our bikes over time and occasionally release new models, it doesn’t mean that the bike you have isn’t as awesome today as it was yesterday. We’ve said this before, and we’re going to keep saying it because people need to be reminded.
Consumption isn’t the primary way to experience cycling, riding your bike is! We all get bored and we start scrolling, browsing, and reading. We see the latest and greatest, and we get restless and full of new gear FOMO. It’s a normal human response. Shiny is fun. But we don’t need to act on the compulsion and recreate through consumption every time the urge hits! Step away from the phone, step away from the magazine, step away from the web browser. Walk outside, inhale deeply, think about somewhere you want to ride, on the bike you already have, and go do that ride ASAP. While riding, your bike will mostly disappear, because that’s what good bikes do. You’ll be floating through space and time, lighting calories on fire, incinerating stress, fighting FOMO, and LIVING LIFE. When you stop, look down at your trusty steed and appreciate it. It’s chipped, the chain is dirty, you need to adjust the shifting and your rear brake pads are probably almost worn out. But be proud of that wear and tear, because that all comes from RIDING. If something breaks, repair it. If something wears out, sure, replace it! But let’s all try to pause and appreciate the bikes we love and ride already, not tomorrow’s new product drop.
It’s our job to sell bikes, but it’s our responsibility to also NOT sell bikes, and to encourage experiences instead. Hopefully we can find that balance and live in harmony with our customers and community.
Three things not to be overlooked:
- Evening bike rides
- Arkansas Monument Trails
- Single Speed Mountain Bikes!
Come on by, the bikes taste great here!
We definitely failed at getting the word out for our featured organization for July/August, it’s been a crazy summer! Our portion of sales will be going towards , your friendly neighborhood BMX track! This local nonprofit is ran by a very small base of volunteers who manage the one and only track in NWA, and facilitate a league for all ages and levels to ride and race bikes together.
The local BMX crowd has a had a tough season. The track was shut down early summer with anticipation of an all-new track opening across town, only to find out major delays were ahead and have been left without a place to race since May. Our goal is to help bring some excitement to the much awaited track and give them some help in their efforts to get the new track up and running! A $5 donation is enough to pay a kid’s entry fee for a night full of fun! Please consider a small contribution your next trip to the shop to make dreams come true down in Lowell!
It’s a rough week for our little shop! Joe and his family have come down with COVID (yeah, it still exists!). To keep everyone clear, operations will pick back up next week as usual assuming everyone is healthy.
🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠
If we have your bike or you need anything, feel free to email, text, or leave messages for the shop and we’ll follow up as soon as we can with what we can do! Thanks for your understanding and we’ll see you on the other side!
It is with great sadness we are saying farewell to Mr. Single Speed. David has been an instrumental part of shaping the bike shop into what it is today. His taste in bikes, taste in music, and organizational skills have bled over into our every day operation and we could not be more grateful.

Luckily he is staying in the area, which means he will STILL be taking our KOM’s. I have attached a complete list of his Strava trophies so you and your friends can know what to hunt next!

Swing by the shop Thursday (his last day ☹️) to send your well wishes & thanks for all he’s done. We’ll miss you man!
HELP WANTED! Know someone? Send this to them! We are a growing shop looking for help keeping up with all of you!

And just like that, we’re half way through the year and wrapping up our third non-profit goal! Not only have we been able to raise money and collect welcome kits for , we have been able to get to know and love a family we likely would not have crossed paths with. It has been humbling, hard, and a joy to learn from each other these past few months, and we’re just getting started!
The family we are sponsoring just welcomed home a baby girl last week (!!). We have a Meal Train going to help relieve cooking these first few weeks. Shoot us a message if you’re interested in hoppin on the Train!
Check out this Ghost Grappler, carrying the spirit (parts) of Zac’s previous Kona and transformed into this custom beauty ✨👻✨ If you too are interested in metal bikes, peek at & which we carry at the shop!
RULE OF THREE READY!
May is here, and so is our next A-MAY-ZING organization to feature, Canopy! Did you know there are over 27 MILLION refugees in the world? exists to find a safe place and integrate refugees within our Northwest Arkansas community 🤍 They have a staff of case managers, career navigators, youth services, volunteer managers, and more to help refugees resettle and thrive here! This year, Canopy plans to welcome 150 individuals, and we at the shop have been able to be a part of 6 of those lives!
A family from Sudan, 4 kiddos and expecting parents arrived to Fayetteville in early April. You may have seen some of our posts, in a matter of days we pieced together a co-sponsor team of 10 volunteers to help welcome and transition the family to their new home! We found furniture, cooked meals, provided groceries, and even found a perfect bike for the father from the ever so gracious 🙌🏽 It has not been easy with the language barrier and feeling like we are from different worlds, but it has been an awesome and eye opening experience.
Our goal for this month is to cover a portion of resettlement costs for the family! We will also be posting requests for certain items you may have gently used around your house to help them out. Stay tuned for more over the coming weeks, and let us know if you have any questions!
The theme for 2023 has been CUSTOM! We focus heavily on each rider’s preferences and needs, and this year has been BUSY with spreadsheets and conversation of the nuts and bolts that make a bike do exactly what the rider needs it to. We look closest at bike fit, gearing, and capabilities, then get into the bling and personal touches.
