Area fire crews and other first responders are on the scene of a reported RV and house fire- that is going on currently in the 100 block of Bethlehem Road here in Madison County.

Several fire departments are on the scene at this time, including Madison County, Waco, Red Lick and Bluegrass Army Depot fire departments are all working that scene. We are working to get more information as well.

Earlier this evening, the outdoor warning sirens were mistakenly activated due to a thunderstorm in our area. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or alarm this may have caused.

Please rest assured that there was no emergency requiring immediate shelter. Our team immediately identified the mistake and an after action report has already been formulated with the team to review the situation to ensure this does not happen again. We appreciate your understanding and patience. Our goal is always to keep Madison County safe. We ONLY activate outdoor warning sirens for a test, tornado or chemical emergency.

RLVFD, BGAD Fire Department, Madison County Fire Department, and Berea Kentucky Fire Department were dispatched to a kitchen fire tonight.

Thankfully the fire was put out by a neighbor and the home owner with a fire extinguisher that the neighbor owned for years.

Using a fire extinguisher when a fire is small is the best way to put out a fire.

Only fight a fire if it is safe for you to do. It is best to keep fire extinguishers by the front and back door. That way if you get the extinguisher and the fire has grown too much to fight, you can escape outside.

Please check your smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. They save lives and homes.

2 dogs rescued from Madison County house fire Firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from the home. The home was deemed a total loss by fire crews.
