What a magical rehearsal! Last night, some of our cast had the opportunity to sing with our orchestra for the first time! We hope you enjoy another sneak peek of The Little Prince, featuring our fantastic pit orchestra reading through part of Act 1, Scene 1 (“Distant Memories”)!
This one-of-a-kind ensemble currently includes piccolo, flute, oboe, English horn, alto saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, French horn, dizi, suona, sheng, celesta, prepared piano, harp, guzheng, yangqin, mallets, timpani, Western percussion, Chinese percussion, live electronics, gaohu, erhu, violin, and cello!

Did you know that our orchestration uses a diverse range of instruments? Not only do we have several Western instruments in our pit orchestra, but we also have Chinese instruments and even plan to incorporate live electronic music!
We were so delighted to listen in our orchestra’s first rehearsal last night, and we’re looking forward to having the Department chair and director, David Milnes, conducting at the opera’s world premiere!

The Lighting Designer will:
∙ Research, plan, and execute comprehensive lighting plot/cues, recruiting spotlight operators* as needed.
∙ Collaborate with the Director to interpret scenic settings, mood, and themes, in addition to determining timing and duration of cues.
∙ Communicate with the Production Managers to provide consultation for purchasing quality spotlights within the show's budget.
As this is a student production, we can offer you a small ~$200 stipend at the end of the production to show our appreciation!
*Spotlight operators recruited may receive ~$200 as well!
Rehearsals: Sundays (7:30-10pm) @ Hertz Hall & Morrison Hall
