"As the days lengthen and the sun rises higher, communities gather and the first foods are being planted. Here at the Alliance, we work daily to thoughtfully shape our future, with deep respect for the lands, waters, plants, and animals that sustain us.
Like the planting of first foods, this initiative requires time, collaboration, and patience. Our Tribal partners across the nation remind us that everything is interconnected, and that our strength lies in our unity.

Clean energy allows us to power our world by taking only what we need from nature, while minimizing or eliminating harm. With thoughtful planning, clean energy development can protect the animals and plants we share these lands with. Indigenous energy practices honor and respect all living creatures and the environment.

🌿 At the Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy, our mission thrives on the unwavering support of our philanthropic donors. Their partnership empowers us to offer vital services to tribes at no cost, driving forward our vision of energy sovereignty.
These generous donors and foundations recognize their contributions as an act of reparations, acknowledging historical injustices and championing reconciliation. Together, we're advocating for justice and equity in every facet of our work. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and shared commitment.
💡 The Alliance Technical Assistance & Project Development team members have decades of experience supporting tribal communities in developing regenerative clean energy projects. Through this journey, we've expanded our expertise and built meaningful partnerships. The Alliance now shares this wealth of knowledge and expertise with tribal communities, supporting tribes in their self-determined pursuit of energy sovereignty.
Through our Preferred Provider Program, we help to ensure that third-party entities who work with tribal communities are rooted in mutual respect and collaboration and complete our cultural sensitivity training. If you are interested this program please reach out to [email protected].
These partnerships are advancing sustainable development in tribal communities, and fostering a cleaner, more equitable future for all. 💫
The Alliance collaborates with tribes to integrate Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) with modern technology, addressing climate change, energy poverty, and economic challenges.
TEK guides us to work harmoniously with the environment, honoring our ancestral roots and respecting the natural world, sharing beneficial wisdom often unfamiliar to Western societies.
Our Preferred Development and Service Provider partners – energy developers, contractors, engineers, scientists, lawyers, accountants, and more – walk alongside tribal leaders on the path to a clean energy future. Their knowledge and expertise are critical for advancing clean energy on tribal lands, and teaching tribal communities how to eventually develop, build and operate clean energy infrastructure...themselves.
We’re grateful for these amazing allies!
When energy developers learn to view clean energy through an Indigenous lens, it deepens their understanding and relationships with the communities they support. By educating non-Native energy developers and service providers to understand and respect Native culture, values and lifeways, we foster a more inclusive and effective approach to energy development that results in better outcomes for people and planet.
We spend this day reflecting on the history of our people. While the United States of America declared its independence in 1776, it wasn’t until the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, that Native Americans were recognized as U.S. citizens.
Today and every day we honor the sacrifices of our ancestors and advocate for healing and reparations for the traumas our communities have endured. Let’s move forward together with resilience and hope.
Indigenous cultures have always revered Mother Earth, with Tribal Nations serving as the original stewards of these lands and carrying generations of Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
The Alliance is proud to partner with Tribes as they lead the clean energy transition, working towards a future where energy solutions are in harmony with ancestral wisdom and the natural world.
The Alliance Energy Policy & Government Relations Team has an important role in cultivating strong working relationships with our federal government allies in order to ensure that energy policies are fair and equitable for tribal nations, as well as to connect tribes with the pools of funding available for clean energy projects. This collaboration with federal agencies is essential to upholding the principles of Trust Responsibility and advancing tribal self-determination.
Executive Order 14112, ""Reforming Federal Funding and Support for Tribal Nations,"" marks a significant step toward honoring these commitments. By acknowledging the Trust Responsibility and promoting tribal self-determination, this order represents meaningful progress.
By fostering respectful and beneficial partnerships between federal agencies and tribes, we strive to build a future where tribal communities have the resources and support they need to achieve energy sovereignty. 💫

"
🤝🏽 We believe that true community connections require more than just words—it's about showing up and building genuine relationships with the tribal communities we serve. Our Tribal Engagement Team strives to foster mutual respect, trust, and collaboration among individuals, families, organizations, and tribal leaders, is our top priority.
💚When we approach clean energy initiatives as a sacred journey with tribes leading the way, we ensure that sovereignty and self-determination are upheld along the pathway to a clean energy future. ☀️
"When it comes to renewable energy development, capacity is usually the number one barrier. Tribes tell us it's great that the Bipartisan Infrastucture Law and Inflation Reduction Act are making these unprecedented investments, but without the capacity to go after that money, tribes are concerned they could be left behind. In December of 2023, President Biden signed the Executive Order 14112 that touches on reforming the Federal Trust Responsibility with tribes."
Gratitude to Dr. Raymond “Studie” RedCorn (Osage, Policy Analyst, Office of Indian Energy, U.S. Department of Energy), for his remarks on energy equity policy initiatives at the second annual Tribal Energy Equity Summit. 💡⚡

What do we do?
The mission of Covenant Solar Initiative is to embrace the extraordinary circumstances and potential of Native American communities, by empowering them to build capacity for solar energy development on their homes and lands. In doing so, they will strengthen their economies while fulfilling their sacred convictions to protect Mother Earth. By deploying a curated team of experts to educate and aid in implementing regenerative solar energy solutions in First Nation Communities, we aim to disrupt the cycle of economic and environmental poverty, restoring vibrancy and vitality to these indigenous societies.
