This photo was taken when I finished my bachelor’s degree 11 years ago. But it is just as true today. I just finished my last two finals to complete my master’s in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Sensory Sciences from Kansas State University as well as their DPD program. All steps needed to work towards my RDN credential. The next step is my dietetic internship at Napa State Hospital which starts next week.

I have to take a moment to reflect on the past three and a half years. It has been the most demanding and stressful time of my life. Up to February of this year, I continued to work full time while working on this degree. I did that so that I could **hopefully** pay for the degree out of pocket and avoid accumulating any more student debt. And I am happy to say that I did that! I did not take out a single loan and have no more student debt than when I started! I never, never, NEVER could have done that without my soon-to-be husband, Tony. He has supported me so much throughout this process. Both financially and emotionally. I will never be able to express the gratitude I feel for how much he has helped me throughout this journey.

Another HUGE accomplishment for me was that I was able to maintain straight A’s the entire time. I was a B student at best during my undergraduate degree. I definitely have vices keeping me from my full potential, namely alcohol and an eating disorder...but the fact that I was able to get an A in every single class this go round is something I am incredibly proud of!

My goal when I started this whole journey was to become an RDN by the age of 35. After my internship, the final step is the RDN exam. And as long as I pass that without having to take it multiple times, I will make that goal :)

Thank you to all my friends, family, coworkers, etc., who helped keep me motivated when I thought I would give up. You guys are the real MVPs.

Onwards we climb.

I’m excited to be matched with Napa State hospital for my dietetic internship. The next (and final) step of this process begins in August.

Today marks 10 years since I moved to California. Time sure goes by fast when you’re changing your life for the better ❤️

Niagara Falls was stunning. And we made it to Canada.
