You’ve met MEXODUS co-creators Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson, now gather round to hear the tale of their fictional alter-egos, Henry and Carlos, and how their unlikely friendship formed...
Henry is a self-described “momma’s boy” and “sensitive son” who was ripped away from his mother, sold into slavery, and sent from Kentucky to Texas at the tender age of eight years old. After 12 years of grueling labor in the harsh Texan sun, Henry embarks on a harrowing journey across the Rio Grande to Mexico, driven by his desperate quest for freedom.
Carlos is a tenant farmer working on la Frontera, near the Mexican border. Carlos provides Henry refuge in his barn after he successfully crosses the Rio Grande. Haunted by his own past, and suspicious of his new guest’s motives for crossing the border, Carlos offers Henry hospitality at a stoic distance while he recovers from his long journey.
MEXODUS is a story about two men who come together to help each other find their own version of liberation.
