A friend of mine shared this quote with me a long time ago, and it’s really stuck.

I remind myself of it often in both my personal and professional life.

The combination of a lot of mindset work likely paired with my age 😉 has made this practice a little bit easier.

So often we want everything in order, to feel completely prepared or to have a “perfect” plan.

With these expectations in place, we may never get it “done.”

Driftwood is a symbol of life and transformation, associated with renewal, hope, and the power of the elements.

I’ve always been drawn to driftwood. I have several pieces in my office that I’ve collected at the beach. The fact that driftwood gets stronger and more beautiful the more it gets tossed around is just a beautiful metaphor for life!

In this picture, you can see a lovely driftwood piece that I added to the Reiki room yesterday. I came across a “driftwood artist” who builds decor out of driftwood and just loved this! It came with a free wood burned piece of driftwood. You can see mine in picture number 2.

Yesterday, my family had the opportunity to do some Earthing in a natural wading pool at the bottom of this waterfall in upstate New York. - We all hopped in. For many reasons, it felt magical!

Earthing, or Grounding, involves direct contact with the Earth’s surface, which some believe can reduce stress and inflammation while boosting energy levels.

Walking barefoot on natural surfaces like grass, rocks or sand allows the body’s electrical system to align with the Earth’s natural energy.

Many find that Earthing helps them feel calm & steady (lots of root chakra support.)

The “home base” for my practice is on Farmington Avenue in Berlin, CT.
My office was the first and only space I looked at and although my building is a little quirky and there are interesting things to contend with in a building that’s well over 100 years old, it still feels like the perfect place for me and my practice right now.
Whether you join us in person or remotely, working from this space always feels cozy and I still pinched myself that it’s what I call going to “the office”.

In the spirit of my 2024 word/theme of Expansion, there’s going to be some updates to my space and with it some *expanded* opportunities at my practice. Stay tuned for the fun reveal this Fall!🌟

What a dream to have a job I don’t want to stop working at.
That being said, this chapter of my life is really offering me some unique challenges. I absolutely love the many aspects of working at and on my practice. People often ask me if I miss having my summers off (I’m a former educator) and the honest answer is, I don’t feel like I have a “job” I need to count down the days to vacation from… and I don’t mind working in the summer at all. ☺️
That is and will always be one of the biggest gifts, my family gave me.
I say my family because it has truly been a team effort. Many changes, challenges, lots of uncertainty & many beautiful benefits came along with opening my own practice.
And so today, I turn off the social media. I close my laptop and we head out of town for seven days of family focused time. My teenagers might not appreciate all of that “focus”but I know I need to bring that balance into our lives for a little stretch this summer.

🌟Meet my August guest facilitator: Michael Tyler

Michael is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience. He has worked in many different settings — hospitals, an alcohol and drug treatment facility, middle and high schools, as well as high school and college athletic programs.
Michael owns a private therapy practice called Ebb and Flow Counseling, LLC in Bloomfield, CT and is a certified Internal Family Systems therapist.

The name “Street Mystic” was given to Michael a few years back by two Shamans and three other men while at a spiritual retreat in the mountains of northern New England. It was during talks about the nature of reality, life, and his varied life experiences that Michael was coined “The Street Mystic.”

More recently, Michael created Street Mystic Pathways, LLC which focuses on navigating the adventure of self-transformation.
