NURSE LEADER SPOTLIGHT ๐
โHi, I am Terry โ I am the director of endoscopy and I have worked at Atlantic General for the last 19 years.
Ocean City has been my familyโs vacation spot since I was 3 years old and has remained my happy place all of my life. In 1999, my dream of owning a home at the beach came true. Once I had a taste of what it would be like to live here all of the time, we sold our house in Baltimore County and became permanent residents of Worcester County! My love for the community led me to AGH, which has proven to be the best decision of my life.
I started as a staff nurse in the Surgery Department as an OR circulator, and then transferred to the endoscopy team. While working in the hospital-based endo team, I was approached by administration to assist with the build and opening of what is now the Atlantic General Endoscopy Center, located in the Barrett Medical Office Building. I then became the Clinical Leader of the Endoscopy Center, and as our service line expanded, I was promoted to director.
My proudest moment at AGH was the day we opened the doors and performed our first procedures at the Atlantic General Endoscopy Center. Being involved in the planning of this freestanding unit and watching it evolve from blueprints to reality is the greatest feeling of pride and accomplishment I have ever felt in my career! To top it off, the staff and physicians nominated me for the Endo Nurse Magazineโs nurse of the year. I was awarded the title of 2009 Endo Magazineโs Nurse of the Year. This was such a proud and humbling moment that I will never forget!
I have gained so much from AGH, including an environment of camaraderie among staff, other departments, teams, leadership, administration, and of course, patients. My worth and contribution to the organization is validated every single day! This is an organization where you are encouraged and supported to grow and be the best you can be. This environment provides compassionate, safe and superior care, to not only the patients, but to every staff member and community member as a whole! My heart will always be at AGH!
As I head into the twilight of my nursing career, I will spend the next couple of years working on my succession plan, mentoring, and training another nurse I can pass the baton to. When this time comes, I plan on staying involved at AGH in some capacity because I absolutely love it here. Many people have heard me say repeatedly: this is the best job I have had in my entire life!โ
Every three years, Atlantic General Hospital and Health System conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to evaluate the health of the population and identify factors that influence health status as well as corresponding opportunities to help improve overall wellness.
As part of that process, we have launched the community survey portion for the 2025-2027 CHNA. We ask that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey questions by visiting www.agh.care/survey24.
With the information collected through the assessment, hospital leaders and our partners will develop plans to address community health priorities and expand upon existing beneficial programs and resources. All answers are confidential. Thank you!

We would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate 20 YEARS of partnership between Powerback Rehabilitation and Atlantic General Hospital!
Our relationship with Powerback started back in 2004 and is stronger now than ever before! Their support in expanding therapy services to meet the needs of our patients is greatly appreciated. Not only are these services offered 7 days per week, but extended evening hours are now in place to ensure that patients have greater access to the therapy care they need.
The collaboration between Therapy Services, Case Management, our providers and patients is remarkable and unparalleled, and we are so excited to celebrate our 20-year partnership!
NURSING SPOTLIGHT ๐
โHi, I am Tracy Hunter and I have been with AGH for the last 10 years. Currently, I serve as a Population Health Nurse and work in our community providing health screening services, education, and information on access to care through our hospital and our health system. Before Population Health, I was the Health Literacy Liaison between Atlantic General Hospital and Worcester County Public Schools. When I am not working for AGH, I am a nursing instructor for Parkside Career & Technology Center, and I bring students to our medical-surgical units for their clinical practice hours.
I chose to work for Atlantic General Hospital because of its family atmosphere. I am not in the hospital often given my job set, but when I am, I am met with warm smiles and hugs and it is as if no time has passed. I appreciate the mentoring that the staff give to my students -- many of them choose AGH as their workplace after graduation. When I am in the community, I love talking with our members and try to help them live a healthier lifestyle.
I have a great deal of pride whenever I put on my AGH badge and go out to work. AGH makes me feel valued and respected in the role I play for our hospital. Helping patients access services that help them live better, and seeing my former students turn into preceptors for my new students is always a full circle moment for me.
I would like to continue to grow my role in Population Health to help more members of our community live better and feel better. Anyone who is thinking about joining the AGH team should know that they will receive the support they need to feel confident in the job they are there to do, and if at any point they feel they need help or additional training to be successful, it is there for them. I appreciate the mindset that AGH has for its employees to grow. Through clinical pathways, scholarships, etc. -- you really can โgo for itโ to reach your maximum potential in your healthcare journey!โ
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common respiratory disease that spreads primarily in the fall and winter and can be dangerous for both babies and adults. Practicing these six everyday hygiene measures can help lower the likelihood of you or your loved one developing an RSV infection. Congratulations to our recent Nurse Residency Program graduates: Miranda (Med/Surg) and Lindsey (Med/Surg)!!!

The Nurse Residency Program not only helps them become successful nurses for their patients, but also teaches them resiliency in the nursing profession.

NURSING SPOTLIGHT ๐
โHi, I am Julie. I have been a nurse at AGH for the last 2.5 years and currently work in the Endoscopy Center. I am also cross-trained to work in pre-op, admission, intra-op and recovery room. In addition, I sometimes work in the Pre-Admission Testing area.
Prior to joining the AGH team, I was a travel nurse. Out in the community, I inquired about the hospital and everyone spoke highly of AGH. AGH had an excellent reputation. Therefore, I interviewed for my position and was very excited to be hired.
From working at AGH, I have gained the sense of what it feels like to work with my own community. I enjoy taking care of my neighbors and friends. I also have gained what it feels like to work with great co-workers and become a very cohesive group. We all work together like โa well-oiled machine.โ
My proudest moment at AGH was just last year when the Endoscopy Department received the Team DAISY award for our excellence in nursing care.
In the future, I hope to retire from AGH. Our environment is pleasant and we have great support. Our providers are fun to work beside and, of course, our anesthesia group as well. Iโd like to specially thank our director, Terri, for her leadership and support!
I could not ask for a better place to work. I would tell any future applicants that they should join AGH because we are a collaborative team. We are all about supporting our patients, and one another. โPatient care always comes first!โโ
Are you ready for tomorrow's Walk with a Doc?!
At 9:00am, join Atlantic General Primary Care's Dr. Kieran Py in Ocean Pines as he discusses the benefits of exercise. Following the discussion, Dr. Py will lead the group for a walk around the park's trail. To make it even better - the first 10 participants to arrive will receive Walmart gift cards!
We can't wait to see you there! ๐๐
Hi, I am Phyllis and I have worked for AGH for nearly 11 years. I currently work in the Atlantic General Womenโs Health office in West Ocean City as an LPN with Dr. Neto. Working at AGH has brought coworkers into my life that I consider dear friends and even family. AGH has a small town feel, very friendly and family oriented. I have enjoyed my time with this organization.
After working in a fast-paced environment, I decided to move into a more flexible position. From previous experience, I had enjoyed working with Dr. Neto. When I found out the position was available, I applied to be able to work alongside her.
Something I am proud of is my ability to establish a good rapport with both my patients and my coworkers. In addition, I am proud to have been nominated for a Safety Ambassador award, and a DAISY award.
It has been my absolute pleasure to meet and work with some of the finest people you can imagine, physicians and associates alike. I have enjoyed passing my clinical expertise on, as well as learning from others about office practice in general. As far as future goals, I am hoping for a smooth transition into my retirement at the end of the year.
