On Dec. 1st, 2013, Faith Crusenberry passed away. In the days following it was revealed through writings that she was feeling at a loss, largely due to bullying. In her own writing she referenced peer bullies and school administration/teacher bullies. Her parents, already aware of the bully problem, kept a dialogue with Faith and the school; even keeping Faith home from school on occasion because

of the persisting problem. Faith was an Honor Roll student in honors and accelerated classes. Never once scoring below a C on a report card and steadily progressing with A's and solid B's, she brought home a report card filled with D's and F's in October, 2013. This did not raise red flags at the school. Faith was also monitored by school staff each afternoon to make sure she was on the bus in order to get a ride home. On 10/15/13 she wrote a poem for a school assignment, the poem was about bullies. It was such a profound poem that her step-father had 500 copies made and had them placed into the funeral bulletin. The original poem, in her handwriting, is now framed and on a wall at the home of Faith's family. What we know of Faith's journey of 13 years on this planet is a life filled with love, friendship, and joy. Her friends have given personal accounts as to what Faith Crusenberry meant to them, going so far as to credit Faith with saving their lives on occasion. And that's what she did. She loved everyone in her life more than anything and would do whatever it took to see them happy and at ease. Although her death has been ruled a su***de, and many indications suggest su***de; the authorities are still investigating her life and death. One thing is for sure, Faith is no longer with us. But her impact remains, and will remain forever more. One of the ideas behind this page is awareness to the bullying problem that goes on in all corners of the US. Even in tiny Berryville, VA; where Faith lived for the last year and a half of her life. The problem was also evident in Leesburg, VA; where Faith lived for the previous five years before moving. While Faith was not bullied at school in Leesburg she did have bully issues in her neighborhood. So awareness can go a long way. Apparently there are some people that suggest Faith should be forgotten, and this may or may not include the school. Faith was not silent in defending her friends and we will not be silent in defending her. Her memory will not go away! With that said, one of the things the Foundation wants to be used for is the sharing of bully awareness and Faith's memory. Whether it's the hats (you'll see), the ribbons campaign, the awareness bracelets, the friendship bracelets, etc; Faith will be memorialized and her fight will continue.

*Take time to pray and vent it all out while you do so.
*Take up a martial art.
*Take time for a hobby so you can spend time in your passion.
*Dudes, taking L's in life right now? Play a video game and get a few W's, this helps reset your brain and can actually boost your confidence. Also, better to "kill" video game people.
*Dudettes, taking L's in life right now? Do your nails or hair (or both), and dance like nobody is watching! Doing so will allow you to vent the mental with the physical and change your outlook.
*Eat your favorite comfort food.
*Go to the gym.
*Play a musical instrument and create.
*Paint something.
*Re-watch some episodes of a favorite show or movie. You already know how it ends so the anxiety build is minimal and you can still enjoy the art behind the story.

Today marks 10 years without Faith. I wish I had something profound to say, some kind of message or a bit of advice. 10 years that feel like only a few months and 50 years all at the same time. Life has been a blender for sure. 10 years later and time is still measured in part as "before Faith" and "after Faith".

She is as missed today as she was 10 years ago.

Realizing she would be 23 today really makes the brain play "what if" games and when you see some of her true friends (on FB or out in the world doing life) it shines a bright light on their resilience as adults who were young teens when travesty struck.

So here we are, 10 years later. Still finding bits of happiness, solace, and clarity in this space of life. She is still discussed. She is still remembered. She is still missed. She is still loved.

To those who knew her, they would agree - to have had Faith in your life for a few minutes or for her 13 years was better than to have not had her in your life at all. Thank you for remembering.

Happy birthday! Today Faith would be 23!
To celebrate this let's all be good to our fellow people. Help an old lady cross the street, take an extra second to hold a door for someone, let that car merge into traffic, pay for someone's drive thru meal, be a friend. You get the idea. Faith wouldnt have had it any other way.

Tomorrow at 10am is the Out of the Darkness walk in Stephens City. This year I merged "team" Gotta Have Faith into team One Day At A Time which is a team comprised of others where I work. The last walk I participated in was 2019. The pandemic and moving away from the Wi******er area took care of 2020 and 2021.
So anyway, I'll be representing the one and only Faithy tomorrow!
