i was TORNNN between doing a full set of black lashes or a full set of ginger/brown lashes to match my beautiful client’s hair… BUT it was her first time in a WHILE getting lashes so i didnt want to do something too drastic; therefore we went with black lashes!

i had an AMAZING time lashing today - as i always do - but wow… what a time we had!

how does the summer time affect your lash extensions? 🧐💭

it’s been exceptionally HOT - especially around this time of year so what are some do’s and dont’s of lash extensions in the summer? 🔥☀️

1. CLEANSE DAILY
this is VERY important especially in the summer. cleaning your lashes properly and consistently will help remove any excess sweat, oil, dirt, dubris, and makeup off the lashes. not doing so will result in EXCESSIVE lash loss. this is because all those yucky things 🤢😷 gets in the way of the glue allowing the glue to easily break down.

2. AVOID HEAVY EYE MAKEUP
eye makeup is typically okay however the excessive use of eye makeup can also cause the glue to break down. this includes; any gel/cream eyeliners (typically pencil as its created with wax) eyeshadow primer/concealer, and EVEN eyeshadow. all these things may be easy to apply, but even more difficult to remove.

3. NO PICKING OR PULLING
whatever you do… DO NOT pick or pull on those pretty lashes. it’s easier said than done but not only will this cause lash damage but you may be left looking a taddd bit wonky. if you find yourself picking your lashes (typically this happens because most clients can feel the glue OR dirt piled up around the glue) bring out your favorite lash cleanser (FOAM CLEANSER IS A MUST) and do a good scrub! 🫧🛁 this will take away everything you are feeling.

4. AVOID MASCARA
this isnt just a summer tip but an ALL YEAR ROUND tip! mascara adds so much weight to those lashes and makes it even more difficult to clean off! do yourself a HUGE favor… avoid mascara on those extensions at all costs!

5. AVOID OIL BASED PRODUCTS
this is pretty simples… but oil breaks down lash glue allowing for those extensions to easily fly away. ✈️🕊️ this is why its super important to use a FOAM cleanser on and around the eyes!

how to care for your lashes during this HOT summer… ☀️🌊

1. try to avoid putting any oil based products on and around the eyes. this includes:

- sunscreen 🧴
- tanning oil 👙
- moisturizers

this increases sweating and decreases retention. if you MUST wear any oil based products (such as those listed above) be sure to wash your lashes at the end of the day to remove any excess oil created.

2. wash your lashes after swimming and sweating… 🏊🏼‍♀️🥵 your after care routine should increase more during the summer. not only should you be washing your lashes regularly but now excessively if you find yourself to be sweating more and/or outside in the sun.

3. do NOT EVER pick or pull on your lashes. you may notice that with all the heat and sweat building up on your lashes, you’ll feel the glue grow out more. this is why it’s not only important to wash your lashes to minimize that feeling, but to also stay on top of your fills!

your lash artist will remove any lashes that are overgrown or remove any that are causing discomfort! my recommended fills go for every 2-3 weeks.
