Happy Nurses Week! We are so grateful for our wonderful nurses who take care of our residents and their families. Being a nurse is no small task and it takes a special person. Thank you nurses!

Thank you to the Mayer School of Irish Dance for coming out to perform at Quartet yesterday! Our residents had a blast!

What a view! Over the last week, the Quad Cities got 25 inches of snow which is a new record for our area. We might not like to be out in the snow, but we are sure loving the views from our apartments.

The Durango floor plan is one of our favorites, so we wanted to feature it today! What makes this apartment unique is its large kitchen and a separate laundry room with additional storage. We only have two of these apartments left! Call us at 563-293-2050 if you’re interested in scheduling a tour.

Our Dining Manager, Amy, took a second to show off our featured appetizers for CASI’s Hat Bash on November 16. If you’re interested in attending, check out their website at hatbash.com

According to Power Nine, successful centenarians put their loved ones first. People living in the blue zones say that strong family values ensure everyone is cared for and loved, positively contributing to their quality of life. At Quartet, our residents and their families are our top priority. Our Executive Director, Kara, sat down with us to talk about building a sense of community by hosting friends and family events.

Friends provide more than good times, memories, and companionship – they also share habits. Did you know that if your friends have healthy habits, you are more likely to adopt these same traits? Friends don’t just grow on trees. They have to be carefully cultivated to bloom and grow. At Quartet, most of our activities are designed to give people opportunities to socialize with individuals who are a similar age with similar life experiences, making it easier to find the right tribe.

One of the major benefits of moving to a community like Quartet is the fact that now everything is walkable. Residents are now within walking distance to dining, the hair salon, the fitness center, and even our movie theater! Walkability and physical fitness can significantly reduce illness by keeping people engaged socially, mentally, and spiritually. There's always something to do at Quartet, and we make it a point to remind residents about upcoming events and activities.

We are continuing our series about longevity and aging well by talking about one of the most important daily habits of the world’s healthiest and longest-lived people. People living in the Blue Zones don’t spend hours in the gym. Instead, they incorporate various forms of natural movement all throughout their day. They live in environments that promote movement. Rachel is an Occupational Therapist with Blue Stone Therapy, which is our in-house physical therapy provider. She is going to tell us a little bit about the importance of natural movement as we age.

This fall, we are focusing on longevity and aging well. Over the next several weeks, we will discuss the various ways a senior living community can help residents live longer and better, including living with more independence. An active, engaging lifestyle can enrich your life, and we are excited to show you how during this series. You may have heard of the Blue Zones, which are a handful of communities in different areas of the world where the residents tend to live longer. An American born today will have a life expectancy of 78.2 years; however, more than 70,000 Americans have reached their 100th birthday. According to the Blue Zones website, a team of researchers have found evidence-based common denominators among all these places. There are nine. Over the next several weeks, we will explore these nine factors and share more about each of them. Next week, on Thursday, Sept. 14, we will host a panel discussion with some of our team members, Quartet residents and local experts to discuss how moving to assisted living can lead to a longer life. The panel discussion will begin at 2pm and will be held in our Quartet theater. We would love to see you here! Follow us here on our page to learn more about this topic along with us this fall.

Our dining team member, Zeek, is an incredibly talented musician. When he's not serving in the dining room, he brightens the resident's days with his music. Zeek is self-taught and plays by ear. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

We had the largest turnout yet for the Ukuladies! Residents got to sing along to well-known tunes and even get up to dance!
