While we work hard at GCPT to debunk the myth that Pilates is only for dancers, your favorite instructors have all dabbled in the dance world for quite some time!
Sophie Constable performed this summer with the 8&1 dance company at Providence Fringe and choreographed a piece with Isabelle Franco for the Dance 360 show in Cambridge. You can also find Sophie teaching at the Cape Ann Center for Dance.
Eme Mizioch currently teaches BollyX - The Bollywood Workout and mat classes at A Performing Arts Academy — and is also a tap student!
Kristen Hardin was a baby ballerina and jazz enthusiast in the 80s + early 90s and is now a proud at the Liza Indiciani Studio of Dance

For adults over 55, the ability to balance on one leg for 20 seconds or more is linked to a reduced risk of falls.
A study published in the found that older adults who could not maintain a single-leg stance for at least 20 seconds were at a higher risk of falls and had a greater chance of experiencing mobility-related issues.
Practicing single-leg balance exercises regularly strengthens the lower body and improves stability, which is crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age.

As we wrap up Diastasis Awareness Month, it is imperative to note that something other than exercise can help to bridge the gap: myofascial release.
Like any other area of the body, the fascia along the abdominal wall can get "sticky" and create "knots." This tissue restriction can make it very hard for the "six-pack muscles" to return back to the midline of the body.
This is where GCPT blends Pilates and physical therapy! In our private Studio Pilates Therapy sessions, a licensed physical therapist can work to manually mobilize and release this restricted layer of tissue over the abdominal muscles and bring balance back to your body.
