Barn Fresh 406
We have been junking, thrifting and reimagining furniture and home decor for literal decades.
I've been busy getting things done...which is Juju speak for I got hyper focused on the ideas swirling in my head and used the excuse of unpacking boxes and sorting things as an excuse to spend time with those thoughts in complete silence. The good news is, I am done with that and my spaces are in better shape.
I always hate when I get all up in my head like that but I also completely understand why native peoples allowed space for walkabouts and dream seeking, why monks will live years in total silence and some of us dream of just getting in the car and driving until we run out of gas and then keep on walking looking for answers. Humans need silence to get deep into their thoughts, to hear inspiration, to see the signs He sends us. If you are constantly in the swirl of families, friends, meetings and mayhem, it is hard to know what you want for lunch, much less what your next big step should be. Stepping away or turning it off is some of the best medicine you can give yourself.
I don't know that I found any great truths. I do know that stress band in my chest has loosened. My right eye isn't twitching as much. I must have been doing a lot because I broke off three fingernails and picked up a few scratches and one big splinter. I have a good plan for the end of the year and moving into 2025. I got some good sleep...my spy watch gave me an A+ three nights in a row. I even got up early and gave my plants a spa treatment so I think we are up and at 'em!
Also, my daughter called yesterday and said "Mommy, it is the 6th of November and I haven't seen your gratitude posts start. Are you okay?" Which goes to show, someone will miss you if you get quiet long enough!
Mais Wheee!
This guy and about 250 of his friends are going to market this week. You can check out the first group over at Barn Fresh 406 Market (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455099665075904). Sale is open until Saturday!
Quick reminder that our November Auction will start tonight over on Barn Fresh 406 Market https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455099665075904. I am still taking pics and getting things ready but there are lots of cool things coming in this one!
Quick preview of our Mini Halloween Auction that starts today at noon and ends tomorrow at 1 pm. You will find it all over at our Barn Fresh 406 Market Sales page. Take a second and join in the fun! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455099665075904/
Halloween is a weird day...some of us will fully submerge ourselves in the experience, some of us have been leading the ghoul life for a week of trunk or treats and some of us are "Turn off the Porch Light and Hide" people.
Given the fact that everyone does something different and schedules get changed up, I decided to try a mini auction this week so that you can flit in and out to snag some goodies. This auction will start at Noon today (Thursday, October 31) and end at 1:00 pm tomorrow (November 1). It is full of good stuff, some clearance, some new and everything starts at a $1 minimum bid so you can score big if no one is paying attention!
As always, the auction will be over in our sale group at Barn Fresh 406 Market (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455099665075904) so stop on by and pickup some treats! If nothing else, you will have things to consider as you wait for the doorbell to ring. :)
Go ahead, get out there and have a wonderful day!

I have the house to myself again!
Mr. J was home for almost two months between construction projects. Don't get me wrong, I loved having him around, we played and camped and cooked and lollygagged and it was wonderful. But. When you have a playmate around all the time, you just want to play, you don't want to work.
Each day I would start out with the best of intentions. I always start my mornings by filling up my tea kettle, turning on my quiet music, loading up the dishwasher, clearing off the counters and starting a load of laundry. Then I sit down at my desk, sip my tea and plan all the things I think I can get done in a day. I got most of that done, most of the time. But then, when it was time to start the doing, His Highness would wander through. He pours a glass of iced tea first thing...and leaves the tea bottle out because it is empty and he makes more tea but leaves in in my kettle to cool, all freaking day. Then he goes in and turns on the television to watch the news and read his book. I can hear it and it makes my eye twitch. If he changed it to something that didn't bother me, then I wanted to sit down and watch it. If he got up to do something, he either wanted to cook (messing up the kitchen counter) or he would somehow be in the very space I needed to walk, move, or breathe, unbeknownst to him. He wasn't doing anything wrong, he just wasn't doing anything right as far as I know. The whole day would go the same way, starting and stopping, losing focus, giving up on the slightest whim and then feeling snarky because it wasn't what I had planned.
In my defense, I have spent 32 years married to My Love and in that 32 years he has virtually always been gone Monday through Thursday. I don't know how to live without plenty of Juju Time. I honestly love the guy, I just love the privilege of having my time to do exactly what I want when I want. He doesn't know it but I really am afraid that when he retires, I will have to find a way to send him off to camp three days a week so I can get that time to myself.
For the first time in 32 years, I tried explaining how things should work. For instance, we have a huge single farmhouse sink, the kind you could bathe twin babies in for a year. I pointed out that there is a towel thing attached inside of it and could he just, for the love of God, hang the dish rag on the bar so that it would dry out and not start to mildew. Nothing is grosser than having to pick up an icky smelling dish rag and clean out a sink full of sk**ky water, just GACKTASTIC! He tried and succeeded about 50% of the time. I showed him how to use the steam mop and he did it, but he also missed swaths of the floor and did not think to take the pad off in between sections to rinse off the dirt, so the floor was cloudy and then he and the dogs walked on it before it was dry. Bless his heart, he heard me when I said if he was going to fold clothes, at least sort them so the long sleeve and short sleeve shirts weren't mixed together, but then he just would pile them all together and put them in one pile in the closet because he didn't know where they go. Now I have clothes towers all over the place and I am so overwhelmed I just keep pulling things out of them rather than putting them all away. He loves me, he just doesn't understand why there are all kinds of Juju Rules for Living because I am my own kind of crazy, but I never taught him because he was always gone so I did it while he was out of town and played when he got home.
Of course, there are a million things I do that make him nuts. I hate messes because once they are there, I get overwhelmed and don't know where to start. And yet I make a bunch of messes, daily. I also hate housework so I only want to do it when I want to do it. He thinks it should be done when normal people would do it (like right after the mess was made) and that makes me psycho. I don't switch gears like that (thank you ADHD). For instance, I don't mind making breakfast but I want to eat when my eggs are still hot. I will put things away as I am cooking, if I remember and I am not doing laundry and if I don't have Messages to check, but I don't want to soak pans and wipe counters before I sit down. In my defense, if he could hear the 700,000 thoughts, ideas and issues swarming in my head at any single moment, he would be scared and overwhelmed too.
Needless to say, I am wondering how I can make it so we can work til we die...him out of town Monday through Thursday and me on task and playing in my own little universe until he gets back and we scamper off to play. If he is reading this, he just muttered "Bu****it!" really loudly...but he knows he is my sun, my moon and my stars and I will love him til the day I die.
Mondays offer way too many choices for the caffeinated!
Tomorrow's Saturday Morning Preview! You will find everything at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455099665075904/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT starting at 6:00 am.
It is Scott's fault. He distracted me. It is a good thing he is going back to work soon because it is really hard not to go play whenever you want to. Not responsible at all! A real struggle!
