Binghamton Equestrian
Competitive equestrian team under the Office of Club Sports at Binghamton University.
We compete in Zone 2 Region 1 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.
2019-2020 Zone 2 Region 1 High Point Team
The last senior highlight of the 2023 season, Jillian Crowley!
Joining in fall 2020, Jillian showed in the Novice division. Along with being a great team member, junior year Jillian served as public relations officer on e-board as well. She has many favorite memories including shows, rock-picking, sleepovers, but most of all Friendsgiving this year at Ari's. It's always so special when we get to be together as a whole team for fun events. She had trouble deciding a favorite among all of BUETs amazing horses, but if she had to choose she would say Caz(featured in her photo). He not only has helped her gain more confidence in the saddle, but his goofy personality will always brighten someones day. BUET was sad to see Jillian end her season early this fall semester as she graduated early with a Political Science major and two minors in History and Writing Studies. However, we are so proud and wish her luck as she takes a gap year to study for her LSAT before applying to law school. We love and miss you Jillian!
We're almost done with our senior posts for the semester! Here is Madeline Shafer!
Maddie joined in Fall 2020 as a freshman in both Limit divisions. She has pointed into Intermediate and Open over the years, while also serving as a member of e-board. First as public relations officer, then co-captain for her last two years, Maddie has put her all into this team. She is such a dedicated member, and one of the sweetest people you will meet. She is truly one of the reasons this team is such an enjoyable part of everyone's time at Binghamton. She loves spending time at shows, lessons, team bonding events, but most of all her amazing team member. This team has been one of the best parts of her college career. As everyone on the team knows, Maddie's favorite BUET horse is Finn. He is a "love or hate" type as our coach likes to put it, but he is so fun and unique with a quirky personality. Graduating as an Industrial and Systems Engineering major and Studio Art minor, she already has a job lines up as a Process Engineer at GlobalFoundries. We are so proud of Maddie, the team will not be the same without her. We love you!
Melissa Blum is out next Senior Highlight!
Melissa Blum is out next Senior Highlight!
Since joining the team in 2022 as a Pre-Novice rider, Melissa has swiftly ascended from Novice to pointing into Limit. Melissa's humor is well known among the team; her jokes never fail to light up the room, leaving everyone laughing. She is also responsible for her legendary Strawberry Fluff Dip, which was in high demand at team bonding events and bake sales. Her favorite BUET pony is Daphne, as she gives a challenging yet rewarding ride that teaches so much. Team dinners, show sleepovers, and shows themselves are some of her favorite memories made with the team. Melissa is graduating with a Biology major and Studio art minor. After graduation, she is planning to take a gap year to work and study for the MCAT before applying to medical school the following year. We all love Melissa so much, she is so kind and joyful and just such an amazing indvidual. She will undoubtedly be missed by everyone.
BUET's third senior highlight goes out to Ari Cozzarelli.
Ari joined the team in 2022 as a transfer student her sophomore year, and you could instantly tell she would be a dedicated member. From hosting team-bonding events to serving as vice president this year to driving the "party bus" to shows, she has done so much for the team. Competing in limit flat and fences at shows, Ari has not only excelled in the arena but also has shown her talents in show photography, all while maintaining an unwaveringly positive outlook. Her favorite memories include double-header show sleepovers, team bonding events, carpool singalongs, and the amazing people who make up this team. Jet and Daphne are her two favorite BUET horses because they always put their all into every ride and have taught her so much. Graduating in Biological Anthropology and Archaeology, Ari will be spending the summer in Romania on a bioarchaeology site, and will return to Binghamton for her masters with plans to pursue her Ph.D. afterward. Two years with Ari on the team have not been enough, we are all proud of you and will forever miss you Ari.
Our next senior spotlight shines brightly on Kylie Browning.
Kylie Browning joined our team in 2021 as a Novice rider, and ascended to compete in Open flat and Intermediate fences. She qualified for Zones each year, and went on to Nationals in her freshman and sophomore years. Kylie is a very talented rider, has become a cherished member of our team, and always knows what to say to make everyone laugh. Her favorite memories include pre-show sleepovers, riding under our coach Mimi, and the lasting friendships she's forged. Kylie could not choose one BUET horse as her favorite, holding a special place in her heart for Finn and Gunner. Graduating with a major in Psychology and a minor in Speech and Hearing Science, Kylie will go on at Binghamton University, where she'll pursue graduate studies in Speech and Language Pathology. We will all miss you dearly, Kylie.
With the semester coming to a close it's time to start our senior highlights, beginning with Paige Hoover!
Paige Hoover joined BUET in 2021 as a Limit flat and fences rider, advancing this year to compete in Intermediate levels. Not only a skilled rider, but Paige has also taken on leadership roles, showing her dedication towards BUET. From serving as treasurer last year to co-captain this year, she consistently goes above and beyond for the team's success. Paige's infectious positivity extends to everyone, and she never fails to lighten up a room. Her favorite BUET pony is Daphne, who she says never fails to bring a fun, jumper-pony ride. She absolutely loves the family she has gained through this team and has found forever friends here. Graduating with a Biochemistry Major, Paige is continuing her education at Binghamton's Pharmacy School. As such an involved and adored member, Paige will be truly missed by everyone. Congratulations, we all love you Paigey!
