Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful holiday and a safe weekend.
Acknowledging the complicated history of this holiday,
And STILL there is much to be thankful for - even when things feel a bit upside down.
We at BSWP hope you are able to take time to feel some gratitude and peace this holiday!
With holidays upon us, it is good to remember:
Gratitude is a secret superpower.
When it bubbles up, it can change everything even though nothing is different, and it can open up perspectives and possibilities where before there seemed none.
And, in it's absence, all can feel dark and bleak.

While Nancy Wanchik is not one of the two women’s groups as part of “Her Story”, she is a fellow artist sharing the space PLEASE DO be sure to notice her wonderful work in the book as you use the stairs to and from the upper gallery!!!!!
And for those of you who are not able to
to use the stairs there is an elevator ready to give you a lift!!
On my mind.
I hope EVERY artist takes this to heart and our dear collectors too, INTAKE day for an art show means choices will be made to put together a strong art show.
WE the artists bring in our work and sit in the space of vulnerability.
For certain we *worry/hope ours gets selected.
Things we think about in our personal selection might be trying to second guess the juror, trying to decide our strongest work available at this time, we also may wonder if we’re “good enough” stacked against the competition…. and in the case of an art society, where we are friends and come together to celebrate art, it can be truly a mix of emotion!
Please, keep in mind the juror makes several rounds in their process of selecting a show and at the end it simply comes down to space!
“Where are we on the count?!”
Physical space always makes a juror have to remove some paintings that had been selected.
Whether our work is selected this time or not we come to celebrate the show, because in the end it is 100% about supporting the arts!
*often is the story of a painting being refused for one show and then the same painting receiving an esteemed award at another!
We hope to see you all this Friday, 5-7 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
to celebrate the arts with us!!
