We want to recognize MTB driver, Jason C., who avoided an accident which was captured on DriveCam. Another vehicle cut over in front of him at the last second at a red light on 20th Street near the Birmingham terminal. Since Jason was already preparing to stop due to the stale green light and not racing to beat the red light he was able to avoid contact with the inconsiderate passenger vehicle. For exhibiting his defensive driving skills Jason received swag, a certificate, and a bonus. Thank you Jason for always making SAFETY your #1 priority!

One of our customers has set up a private warehouse distribution center near an airport, where our Action Dedicated fleet remains at the ready to receive the shipments flown in from Europe. It's a very cool process seeing cargo planes touch down and get unloaded from the plane straight into our trailers!

Shout out to P&S Legend Radford M. for his safe and defensive driving that helped him avoid a collision on the highway. Radford was in the middle of a 3-lane highway passing a slow-moving truck to his right. As he passed, the truck began drifting into his lane. Because he avoided distractions and kept his eyes moving, Smith System Key #3, he was able react quickly to safely avoid the collision. Well done, Radford!

P&S Transportation’s June 2024 Driver of the Month is Theo L.! Theo has been a proud part of the P&S team since August of 2022 when he came aboard. He has had two clean inspections while with P&S and received a one-year safety award last August .

“Theo and I have been working together since I joined P&S. He has taught me a lot about how to be a good driver manager. He is also one of the happiest people I have met. Even when things are not going his way, he is in a good mood about it. Theo always says he will run anything if it gets him home that weekend. It’s hot, y’all! As we move further into the summer months we want to emphasize how important proper hydration is for the safety and health of our drivers. Water is always key in staying hydrated, but replenishing electrolytes is also important. Another useful tip is to consume foods with high water contents, like fruit. Stay hydrated, safe, and ahead of the heat!

TCA Names 2024 Professional Drivers of the Year | Transport Topics INDIANAPOLIS — It’s not by chance that four award-winning truck drivers get home safely every night after spending a demanding day on the road. It’s by design, they said during a panel discussion.

Look out! Operation Safe Driver Week is upon us! For the week of July 7-13 we will be focusing on safe driving and ways to do so. This year, the focus is on reckless, careless, and dangerous driving. Law enforcement will be on the lookout for you, so be on the lookout for them. As always, safe driving is top priority!

Shout out to Marvin W., who has been selected as the MTB Transport driver of the month for May 2024! Marvin has been with MTB since April of 2016. During his time with MTB Marvin has not had any accidents/incidents, cargo claims, and work-related injuries. He has had six clean inspections over the last eight years. The seventh inspection had one violation - a light that went out during transit. Marvin currently qualifies for the Million Mile Award and is less than 80,000 miles away. He also completes the Drive for Gold monthly training on a routine basis and is compliant with Hours of Service regulations.

We had so many drivers with Annual Safety Awards celebrating five years or more of safe driving in May that we had to use two pages! To receive the award, a driver must go a minimum of one year without an accident, cargo claim or loss time - work place injury. Years of consecutive safe driving are counted from each driver's start date, so even though they are called annual awards, we have new winners each month. We can't post this list without shouting out reigning Driver of the Year Melvin G. who has 24 consecutive safe years on the road! Congratulations to all of our safe drivers!

We are proud to announce Willie W. has been awarded May '24 Driver of the Month for P&S! Willie has been with P&S for more than four years and has achieved two yearly safety awards so far!

“Willie is the best of the best at P&S. He never turns down freight and does everything we ask of him no matter what. Willie is the staple impact driver for our company. Willie just had a safety recognition for safe driving which was captured on his DriveCam event where he avoided a near-accident. Also, safety representatives were on site at a shipper in Fulton, AL last month when Willie came in and represented us very well and did an outstanding job. Straps are secured under the tarp.
(Exceptions are preloads of sheetrock and ceiling tile)
Straps can be placed on the outside of the tarp.
Tarp is properly secured with bungees to prevent ballooning.
Bungee hooks are facing the away from the tarp to prevent damage to produce and puncturing of tarp.
Loads are X strapped in front and rear (these straps can be outside of tarp)

Congratulations to MTB driver, Rex R., who avoided an accident which was captured on DriveCam. Another vehicle failed to yield before making a right hand turn and then pulled out into Rex’s lane of travel. Rex then reacted in less than 1 second because he was practicing key #1 of Smith System which is Aim High in Steering and key #4 of Leave Yourself an Out. Because he was practicing these keys, he was able to anticipate that this car might be pulling out in front of him and was able to maneuver his truck to where no contact with the other vehicle was made. For exhibiting his defensive driving skills Rex received swag, a certificate, and a $ bonus. Thank you Rex for always making SAFETY your #1 priority!

Shout out to MTB driver Ray E. who avoided an accident which was captured on DriveCam. Another vehicle was randomly stopped in the grass near an entrance ramp with no explanation as to why. Suddenly, this vehicle pulled out in front of the truck. The DriveCam event showed Ray utilizing 2 of the 5 Smith System keys of 1. Aim high in steering and 2. Leave yourself an out. If Ray had not been anticipating this vehicle possibly pulling out in front of him while also leaving himself an out, he may have contacted the other vehicle. For exhibiting his defensive driving skills Ray received swag, a certificate, and a bonus. Thank you Ray for always making SAFETY your #1 priority!

We're kicking off the week another check-in with Bluebonnet, one of the DOTY trucks this year. Her driver Zach got her all shined up just in time to get hit with an inspection in NM! It was no surprise to us that the inspection was clean. Keeping your truck clean is one of the best ways to tell inspectors you take your job seriously. Well done, Zach! Keep leading by example!

What we are looking for on coil load tarp pics:
1. Tarp fits tightly around product
2. Bungee hooks face away from tarps
3. Excess tarp is rolled up and secured
