THE CHOIR CORNER: FREE VOICE CLASS!

To kick off the choir season, the OLS Music Ministry welcomes Dr. Sadie Goodman in a Voice Class for Beginners. Dr. Goodman has a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Samford University (2009), Master of Music Education from Samford University (2010), Master of Music in Voice and Opera from Northwestern University (2013), and Doctorate of Musical Arts from The University of Alabama (2015). Currently, she is a lecturer at Samford University, has sung internationally, and is highly respected among her colleagues and the professional music community in Birmingham. Dr. Goodman sings for various cathedrals and churches in Birmingham, and has been a featured soloist with The Alabama Symphony, Over the Mountain Festivals, the Diocesan Choir of Birmingham and other local entities.

The class will be on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 from 6:30pm- 7:15pm in the Music Room and is absolutely free.

This Sunday, members from the 10am Choir will be handing out free doughnut holes and recruiting for new members after all morning masses! Please stop by! We would love to meet you!

Sadie Goodman gave a wonderful vocal workshop for members of the OLS Music Ministry this morning! We are so grateful she took the time out of her weekend to share her knowledge and wisdom with us all! Already looking forward to having her back in the fall!

This Saturday morning at 10am in the Family Life Center, Dr. Sadie Goodman will be giving a vocal technique class to members of the Music Ministry. Anyone from any ensemble is welcome to attend! It is sure to be an enriching morning! Dr. Goodman is a wealth of knowledge and we can't wait to hear what she has to teach us!

ISABELLE DEMERS, CONCERT ORGANIST
The next offering of the Downtown Concert Series at the Cathedral of Saint Paul 2023-2024 season is an organ concert THIS Sunday, April 21, at 4:00pm by renowned Canadian organist, Dr. Isabelle Demers. Holding the position of Associate Professor of Organ at McGill University in Montréal, she is also very active in giving concerts and is noted for her imaginative programming and “bracing virtuosity” (Chicago Classical Review). Her program with us will include selections from her own transcription of the famous piece by Igor Stravinsky, The Firebird, as well as baroque, romantic, and contemporary selections from composers including Bach, Widor, Daveluy, and Laurin. THE CHOIR CORNER:

The Sunday 10am Choir invites all people God has blessed with musical gifts and talents to help enrich the liturgy and deepen their faith through song. The goal of the choir is to praise God with others through the gift of music. This choir is for anyone who has a love for singing and for Christ, from highschoolers to empty nesters.

With Lent around the corner, many feel the need to grow closer to God, to connect deeper in the faith. Joining the choir is one way to participate in the liturgy in a different way. We reflect on the readings, pray for each other, praise Jesus, and have a lot of fun along the way.

The OLS Adult choir wish you all a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year!

The Children's Choir will sing at the 4pm Christmas Eve Mass the church.
The Adult Choir (Sunday 10am Choir) will sing at the 6pm Christmas Eve Mass in the church.
There will be 30 minutes of choral prelude music at these masses. Hope you come and hear some prayerful Christmas music from your Music Ministry!
