Research Civitan Club - Birmingham
Our monthly meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday at 12pm at the CIRC conference room in the first floor.
The Research Civitan club is a part of the Civitan International organization. Its home is the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Our members are faculty, students, and local community members who volunteer to support the local Birmingham community. The Research Civitan Club meets monthly on the first Thursday at 4pm at the CIRC conference room in the first floor.

Greene Prairie Aquafarm, LLC. was established in 2001 to commercially produce shrimp in low salinity water of Greene County 150 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. Earthen ponds are filled with low salinity ground water that must be amended with potassium and some magnesium for shrimp to survive. After 21 years, the most difficult part of the business is to compete in a market that imports more than 1.3 billion lbs/yr.
