The North Smithfield Manor Greenleaf Heights Community held a meeting to discuss the need for fire protection. Florence of Jefferson County Alabama signed into place the North Smithfield Manor Greenleaf Heights Volunteer Fire Department abd Board. The community members made a commitment to pay for quality firefighting equipment. Members of the newly formed fire department immediately went to work purchasing equipment and training.

A HIGH risk of deadly remains in effect thru Friday night for all area beaches.
Large, breaking waves of 5-7 feet continue today with surf heights gradually subsiding tonight into Friday. A High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 6pm this evening.
Splashover and minor Coastal Flooding are also expected along coastal portions of Mobile & Baldwin Counties around times of high tide this morning through early this afternoon. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for these areas until 2pm this afternoon.

Occupied structure fire early this morning 2100 Blk of Allen Circle. All occupants escaped the fire unharmed. Mutual aid was recieved from Fultondale Fire & Rescue. The structure was a total loss and no other injuries or fatalities were reported in the fire. All Fire Department personnel "GOES HOME SAFELY"!!
