Y’all asked for it…(a lot)…and Raj found some good mangoes today! So, you know what that means!
Yellow Dragon!
Get it while it’s here!
Spicy crab, tempura shrimp and cucumber topped with fresh tuna and an amazing mango relish.
We love when neighbors celebrate with us!
Happy Birthday, Sue!
9 years ago today, we opened our big, orange door to all of y’all for the very first time. You’ve allowed us to be a part of your lives for almost a decade and, in turn, have become a huge part of ours. We’ve shared first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations and a million other memories. You saw us through the uncertainty of a global pandemic and helped us come through it not only ‘still standing’, but stronger than before. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support and friendship and can’t wait for the next 9 years!
✌🏻🧡🍣
Yes, we’re OPEN! …and running two very different specials!
1. We still have the Chilled Glass Noodle and Shrimp Salad. (See earlier post.)
…and…
2. Beer-Battered Tilapia Bites with Mango Pepper Salad
Beer-battered and fried bites of tilapia served with togarashi sauce and a spicy-sweet sauce of sriracha, lime and brown sugar all paired with a salad of mango; red, yellow and green bell peppers and red onion.
Yes! We’re open this weekend! Y’all come on!
Just a couple of reminders:
1. We are OPEN for regular business hours every day this week EXCEPT Thursday.
So, y’all come hang out with us!
2. Pets and fireworks DON’T mix! Put your pet somewhere INSIDE that’s safe and quiet.
…seriously…DO IT!
So good it should be X-***ed, our newest weather-beating cold noodle special debuts today!
The Chilled Glass Noodle Salad
Chilled rice noodles, chilled shrimp, carrots, purple onion, cilantro, cherry tomatoes tossed in dressing of fresh lime, brown sugar and fresh Thai chilis. All topped with crisp arare.
Perfect to share as a starter, it’s bright and cool with a spicy ceviche-like twang.
Ohmygod, bro. Chill.
…with this delightful cold noodle salad we have as this weekend’s special!
Chilled udon noodles, carrot, cucumber, green onion, purple cabbage, water chestnuts and bean sprouts tossed in our house-made spicy peanut dressing and topped with cilantro and sesame seeds.
Perhaps the most seasonally sympathetic thing on our menu right now. It’s comfortingly cool with a satisfying chew and earthy summer flavors finishing with just enough heat to remind you where you are. Honestly, it’s pretty fire ‘as is’, but you can add a protein if you want. We suggest chicken or shrimp, but totally think tofu would slap too if that’s your thing.
When it was your GM’s birthday yesterday, but he took the day off. So, the FOH staff just holds off on the ice cream cake until today!
Happy Belated, Adam Freis!
We’ve got cocktails, sushi and (just for tonight) baseball!
This evening, Bamboo on 2nd will be showing the game between the St Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants: A Tribute to the Negro Leagues being played at our own Historic Rickwood Field, the oldest major league ballpark in the country.
Come join us for a bite and an inning or two as we raise a glass to this revolutionary league and to Alabama’s own Willie Mays.
This weekend we’re featuring a fun, funky new Saké.
One Cup “Graffiti Cup” Futsushu
Literally packaged in a single-serve cardboard cup designed by renowned Japanese graffiti artist, Shiro; this clever collab with Marumoto Brewery is light and fresh with strong notes of watermelon and green apple.
A perfect summer sipper.
Closed for Memorial Day!
See y’all tomorrow.
It’s back! If you missed the Summer Salad. Here’s your redo!
Spring mix, purple cabbage, red, yellow and green bell peppers, edamame, charred fresh corn, radish and Seared Tuna with Yuzu Kosho Dressing.
Special this weekend: Bamboo’s Summer Salad with Seared Tuna.
Spring mix, purple cabbage, red, yellow and green bell peppers, edamame, charred fresh corn, radish and Seared Tuna with Yuzu Kosho Dressing.
Perfect to share as a starter…or keep it for yourself. We wouldn’t blame you.
Yeah, we know… It’s kinda hard to get excited about a salad.
It won’t be this weekend.
Need a break? Try Bamboo’s Rent-an-Uncle service!
Stephen and Bernie will take care of Little Junior while you eat!
(Todd will sit out front and pet your dog.)
Lol! Jk! Jk!
…but no, for real, Todd still wants to pet your dog.
Very cool day.
Who run the world?
💅🏻💅🏼💅🏽
Let’s go, Friday!
Mango season is back and so is our hands-down most requested seasonal roll…
The Yellow Dragon
Spicy crab, tempura shrimp and cucumber topped with fresh tuna and an amazing mango relish.
Get it before it’s mangone.
Bamboo on 2nd congratulates UAB’s Coach Andy Kennedy and his AAC Champion men’s basketball team!
GO BIG GREEN!
Seems like a great week to come get a Blazer Roll, doesn’t it?
Mangoes are in-season, y’all. 😬
Weekend Dragonmasters: Raj and B
Y’all consistently make the PBR one of our most popular dishes. (Thank you! We love it, too.) But for a long time some of you have subbed ‘chicken’ for ‘pork’ and, honestly, it’s become its own whole vibe.
Same crispy, flash-fried brussels. Same sushi rice. Same eel sauce. BUT with savory shredded chicken.
Familiar, but fresh; It’s a nice twist on an old favorite and pretty much perfect on a chilly night.
Just sayin…
If it can’t be all-the-way ‘Spring’ yet, it can at least taste like it.
Campesino rum, melon liquer, Prosecco and lime.
Behold…The Jade Dragon.
It’s our bright twist on a dacquiri with a little hint of melon.
Yep, we’re open.
Nope, you don’t need a reservation.
Of course, we have the Valentine Roll!
❤️
See you at 5!
Need a little jolt of caffeine while you’re waiting for your table or a nibble of something sweet when you’re all done here? Go next door and check out ’Grounds’ (located in the shared-space with ‘basic’). It’s the perfect fit for the 2200 Block. I mean…we love ALL our neighbors, but a neighbor with chocolates and a good cup of coffee? 🫶🏻
