Don't Get Burned! 🥵
The dangers of sunburn is long lasting and even a single sunburn can increase your risk of skin cancer. Sunlight's ultraviolet (UV) radiation damages not only the surface of the skin, but also the DNA of the skin cells- with earlier exposure particularly unsafe. And this applies to indoor tanning as well. We've all been there, we either neglected using sun protection or we missed a spot, but sunburned skin is painful, hot to the touch and can result in blisters, swelling, peeling skin that can take days to recover. Take care when outdoors and remember: what you do today can (and will) effect what your skin will look like tomorrow and for years to come.

The word "cherirosa" is Brazilian for delicious smelling. The company Sol de Janeiro introduced this fragrance that combines jasmine petals, vanilla, pistachio and notes of salted caramel. It really is a delicious-and sensual scent!

This month’s facial special is called Red Raspberry, because well, raspberries are red right? So where did blue raspberry come from? I used to think the blue-colored flavor was just used to distinguish it from strawberry or cherry. Turns out that it is an actual type of berry- the blackcap (also called whitebark) raspberry. However, the blue raspberry flavoring used in candies and frozen treats is actually a concoction of a few fruit ingredients and bright blue food coloring that totally dyes your tongue. 😜

Despite her 4 pack a day habit, the iconic actress Bette Davis lived to the ripe old age of 81 (she died in 1989). And though she was in show business for over 50 years, we watched her age with her special kind of sophistication and style. Clearly growing older is hard but watching others grow old is especially difficult, whether it's a beloved pet, a family member, or friends. My sweet Chihuahua "Amy", now a senior (approx. 14), sleeps a lot, her dark eyes clouded and she has little patience with the younger dogs in my pack. It's hard to watch, but life doesn't promise forever's and it's definitely not for sissies. 🥹

The décolleté tends to show signs of aging at an accelerated pace. Similar to the neck, the skin is thinner, more delicate and typically neglected. Exposure to the elements (at least) 7 months out of the year, this area of the body can end up looking pretty beat up. Sun spots, cherry angiomas, spider veins and patchy sun damage can make the chest look prematurely aged. Treatments include: chemical peels, Skin Classic Treatment, microdermabrasion and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light- which is something I do not offer but can refer you). Personally, I would focus on protecting this area in the summer- using Vitamin C serum and SPF daily and then in the fall we can discuss correction treatments. But I wanted to share something that I do to help camouflage my décolleté "issues". Besides the aforementioned serum/lotion, I also use a BB cream- which is a light foundation + sun protection that helps cover and looks natural. Occasionally I'll use a shimmer or soft glitter to reflect light and help obscure imperfections. 😃
