🎨 LAST CALL FOR EXTREME ART 🎨

Due to several requests, we opened up a few more spots for our Extreme Art program next week. We will be creating grand-scale works of art in the woods while exploring colors, light, textures, and mediums such as water, mud, and foam. Join us for this unforgettable week before it's too late!

🌻 This is such a great reminder for our kids, especially this time of year when all of the flowers are beginning to bloom

We had a blast with the 2nd and 3rd graders from Concordia Academy at TimberNook today!

🪵 NATURAL BALANCE BEAMS 🪵

These natural balance beams are another new addition to our TimberNook play space. Balance beams and other challenging surfaces above ground level help children build core strength and learn how to adapt their bodies in response to direction changes. This helps develop proper body awareness, postural control, and coordination. These skills are needed for proper attention and concentration when learning.

💪🏻 CARGO CLIMBING NET ✍🏻

The foundation for fine motor skills lies in the strength and stability of the core muscles, shoulders, and arms. Having adequate strength in these muscles provides the needed stabilization for finger muscles, which facilitates more precise and accurate fine motor work. Targeting these gross motor muscles through play is an extremely important precursor for handwriting and other fine motor skills.

🏗 TimberNook of Greater Omaha worked hard this spring to enhance our play space by adding elements that increase the therapeutic value and target more aspects that are vital to child development.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing some of the new additions to our play space and highlight their therapeutic benefits, which sets TimberNook apart from other programs.

🧠 Did you know that proper organization of the central nervous system and brain are precursors for intellect, academic learning, and higher level cognitive skills?

🌳 One of the awesome things about TimberNook programming is that the curriculum and environment are intentionally set up to target these aspects within the central nervous system, which lay the foundation for learning. These skills are vital for a child's proper physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.

The dream of every TimberNook provider is that the skills and inspirations from TimberNook programming carry over into real life situations. Our inspiration for TimberNook of Greater Omaha:

We often get asked why we decided to bring TimberNook to the greater Omaha area, so we will share a glimpse of our background story. Of course it is helpful that I am an occupational therapist and TimberNook was started by an occupational therapist, but our greater inspiration for TimberNook is our daughter. When I was 20 weeks pregnant, we found out our daughter had a severe heart defect and various other health problems that would put her at risk to stay on track with typically developing children. She had her first open heart surgery at 2 months old, and she has had to endure various other health complexities during her short 2 1/2 years. We knew that providing her with an environment where she could develop confidence, resilience, and courage was going to be incredibly important for her during her life. Throughout my hours of research on child development, I found TimberNook. It felt like I found the program of my hopes and dreams. TimberNook's mission is: "to provide children with sensory-rich play experiences that inspire, restore, and strengthen the mind and body. The environment and activities are carefully chosen to encourage children’s creative play, social connections, and to provide an environment where children can practice and build essential life skills.” This is exactly the type of environment that we wanted to raise our daughter in. We were passionate about creating an environment for our daughter that nurtured confidence and courage through healthy risk taking and play, but I also wanted to become an advocate for all children based on my knowledge of child development. I knew I had to become a TimberNook provider to share this hidden gem with the rest of the community and to provide all children the opportunity to develop necessary skills with proper time and space to play.

TimberNook is more than just a business for us. It is our lifestyle. Our daughter’s future success depends on it. We are blessed to be fierce advocates for child development and share this essential program with our community.
