We are excited to welcome Ariel Chen to Anthem Academy of Music as our newest piano teacher!

An internationally acclaimed Taiwanese pianist, Ariel began her piano studies at age 3 and completed her master’s degree in just one year at Tainan National University of the Arts. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in piano performance at the University of Minnesota. Ariel has studied under world-renowned maestros and has received top honors in prestigious competitions, including the Schubert Club and Mechelke Student Scholarship Competitions. She offers instruction in both Mandarin and English, bringing a wealth of experience and a unique, sensitive approach to her teaching.

Ready to strum your way into a new adventure this fall? Join our Guitar Ensemble and Ukulele Ensemble classes!

In these 45-minute classes, you'll:
* Learn to play guitar or ukulele in a dynamic ensemble setting
* Master music reading, rhythm, theory, and technique
* Start with simpler pieces and progress as your skills develop

Open to students ages 8 and up, and suitable for all skill levels (even beginners!), this is a great opportunity to enhance your musical abilities while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow musicians. Class size is limited to 8 students, so be sure to secure your spot soon!

Earlier this month, we were treated to an incredible afternoon of music during our spring recital. The students truly impressed as they showcased all of their hard work they’ve done this semester. There were proud moments all around!

We are thrilled to announce our first ever Summer Music Camp!

AAM Summer Music Camp is a music day camp for aspiring young musicians, ages K-6. Children will have the opportunity to explore their musical knowledge and ability through classes, creative play, and group work. They will learn how to understand and interact with music, learn an instrument, and discover their singing voice. No prior musical experience required!

July 8-12 • 9:00am-12:00pm • $250 ($125 deposit)

We are happy to welcome our newest piano teacher, Jeremy Weaver, to Anthem Academy of Music. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults.

Jeremy, a Michigan native, has been teaching piano since 2017. He holds BAs in Piano Performance from the University of Notre Dame and in Music Education from Saginaw Valley State University. Jeremy's musical journey includes collaborations with several universities, specializing in musical theater and 20th-century art songs.

With a diverse musical background, Jeremy serves as a music director at his church, honing his skills with instrumentalists and vocalists of all levels. Beyond academic settings, his experience enriches his understanding of music's transformative power and reinforces his passion for sharing it with others.

Embark on a musical journey with My First Music Class, a specially crafted 45-minute weekly class designed for early childhood music education. This class is a dynamic blend of joy, learning, and self-expression, utilizing a variety of engaging elements such as musical instruments, body movement, songs, wordplays, and other creative avenues.

At the heart of My First Music Class lies the renowned Orff Schulwerk Method, a child-centered approach that promotes active learning through hands-on experiences. Students immerse themselves in activities encompassing improvisation, music, movement, and speech. This method empowers children to explore their innate connection to music, interact with diverse instruments, nurture their musicality, and develop the art of improvisation.

We’re thrilled to announce yet another new teacher this fall: Dimitra Kitsou!

Dimitra is a multi-talented musician and educator from Greece with a strong passion for music and early childhood education. She has an innovative approach to teaching that was developed through her training in the Orff Schulwerk Method.

Dimitra’s lessons are characterized by their creativity and child-centered approach. Her ultimate goal is not only to impart musical knowledge and skills, but also to foster a deep and lasting love for music in her students. By recognizing and nurturing each student’s unique talents and abilities, Dimitra strives to make a meaningful impact on their musical journeys.

Dimitra will be teaching both piano lessons and My First Music Class (ages 2-5). She can teach in both English and Greek.

We had a great time sharing in the fun at Transfiguration Lutheran Church’s Trunk or Trunk or Treat this weekend. Did we see you there?

Our students were recently invited to perform at the Richfield Community Center for the “Good Happenings” social club. They were rewarded with applauses and cheers for their wonderful musicianship. It was the first performance for many of them, and they all performed beautifully.

Sam is an up and coming violist currently studying under the guidance of renowned viola expert Korey Konkol at the University of Minnesota.

🏆 Sam's dedication has shone through in his achievements, including securing top spots in competitions such as the Schubert Club's Bruce Carlson Scholarship Competition and Thursday Musical's Young Artist Competition.

🎵 Sam's belief in nurturing individuality shines in his teaching philosophy. He understands that every aspiring musician has unique strengths and needs. He's committed to going that extra mile to guide students towards their goals.

🎓 Hailing from Minnesota, Mary holds degrees in Church Music (Concordia University – Chicago) and Organ performance, with a secondary area in Music Education (University of Minnesota).

🎶 A truly gifted musician, Mary's accomplishments include solo organ recitals, master classes with renowned musicians, and premiering new music. As a rehearsal accompanist/organist, she has brought to life cherished works like Vivaldi's Gloria and Mozart's Requiem.

🏆 With 15+ years of piano teaching experience, Mary is passionate about guiding students on their musical journey. She's a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and the National Federation of Music Clubs, currently serving as President of a local Federation chapter in the Twin Cities.

🎵 Introducing Mario Ángel Pérez, our incredible new voice teacher! 🎶

Born, educated, and based in Minnesota, Mario is a talented tenor with an impressive background in the world of opera. He has covered Don José in Carmen with the Opera Reading Project and portrayed Young Luis in Reinaldo Maya's production of Tienda for Augsburg University. Mario's previous roles include Remendado in Carmen at Pine Mountain Music Festival, Euthyclès in La belle Hélène with Lakes Area Music Festival, and First Priest and First Armored Man in Die Zauberflöte, also with Lakes Area Music Festival.

With a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Minnesota, Mario's dedication to his craft is undeniable. He was selected for the prestigious ECCO program at the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Opera, where he received personalized instruction on operatic preparation from Allen Perriello. Mario also had the privilege of studying Mozart aria interpretation with Helen Donath at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, through the Internationale Sommerakademie.

This past Sunday, some of our students had the pleasure of performing for the residents at Nine Mile Creek Senior Living. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to share their gifts with the residents while gaining performing experience. They did an excellent job!
