Extending service: sharing outside our walls. As our congregation extends God’s hospitality within our building, we also continue to care for our community. Gifts received through our capital campaign that go beyond our fundraising goal will be used to further extend our present financial support for benevolent partners doing God’s work outside St. Stephen. Extending worship: livestream technology updates. When the pandemic struck, we quickly cobbled together a system to provide online worship. Today that system lets us continue to engage a significant number of our congregation and others. Between 75 and 100 people join us in online worship weekly. That’s more than in-person worship in most ELCA congregations. Still, our quick adaptation revealed acoustical challenges in our sanctuary for both live and online worship that we will fix with funds raised in our 2024 capital campaign. We’ll invest in new technologies to improve our sanctuary acoustics and online worship experience, deepening people’s connection with God and our community. Extending welcome: the parking lot. It’s no secret. We’ve faithfully patched holes in our parking lot for years. With costs rising, the time has come for a full replacement, and we’ll do just that with funds raised in our 2024 capital campaign. We’ll build a more welcoming parking lot. The project involves more than just new asphalt. It will add: New LED lighting to provide a sense of security for those leaving late activities Raised and striped crossings to provide clear walking spaces to help keep pedestrians safe Collection areas for stormwater, and islands with native vegetation that will convey our love of God’s creation Visit our website to learn more about how you can support the campaign… or watch this space. Extending safety: Added security.
Extending safety: Added security. St. Stephen’s building is a busy, busy place with events throughout the week for all ages, so it’s important that we commit to providing a safe place for all. That’s why we’ll make critical security improvements with funds raised in our 2024 capital campaign. Cameras will cover the sprawling interior of our building. Keyless card access will limit those who can enter and ensure that we know who comes and goes from our space. Extending sustainability: Solar panels.
At St. Stephen, we share a deep care for the earth. That’s why we’ll add solar panels to our roof with funds raised in our 2024 capitol campaign. Adding solar means big numbers. We’ll reduce our carbon footprint and avoid approximately 4,278 metric tons of CO2 over the next 25 years. That’s equivalent to 109,694 trees planted, 482,309 gallons of gas consumed, or more than 4.5 million pounds of goal burned. We’ll also save more than $22,000 a year in electricity costs. Such a joy to share in worship and music with Tapestry Richfield, MN tonight! 😀🎶⛪️🙏

Lutherans pay attention to God’s activity in ordinary places, things, and situations. This week Pastor Kathie offered a blessing of our church garage, which had been transformed into a shelter to keep our musicians and worship leaders warm during the cold winter months of this pandemic. Next week we move back to the open air! Join us on Wednesdays at 6 PM for Parking Lot Prayer! 😀🚙⛪️🙏🎶☀️

Signs of life (and sounds of music) are returning INSIDE the building! 😀⛪️🙏🎶📖
