The Indiana University Student Chapter of the American Library Association hopes to engage IU's library students in community gathering and conversations that help them as they pursue careers in libraries.

I hope your week is going well. I am excited to announce that the IU ALA Student Chapter has partnered with the Society for Rare Books and Manuscripts and the Luddy School Office of Student Engagement to sponsor an ILS Halloween Movie Night on Friday October 21 . This is a relax event where you can hang out with fellow ILS students and watch the new Hocus Pocus 2 movie for the first time or even for a second or third! There will be food so spread the word and bring your friends.
Join us next Monday, September 19, for the first ALA meeting of the semester! We will be meeting in Wells Library E174 to talk about the club, our activities, and organizational leadership. The ALA has organized a tour of the Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF) facility next week: Thursday, April 21 at 5:30 PM! We'll meet at the ALF itself, at 2850 East Discovery Parkway. Bear in mind that parts of ALF are temperature controlled to 38F, so dress accordingly! If you have any questions about the tour or getting to ALF, do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].

The ALA Student Chapter has arranged for a tour of the Moving Image Archive! Join us next Tuesday, February 22, for a behind-the-scenes look at this library and to learn more about the art of film preservation. The American Library Association - Student Chapter will be holding its November meeting next Tuesday in Luddy Hall! With the end of the semester fast approaching, the stress of completing final projects may be setting in, so why not take a break to socialize with your classmates and play some Scattergories or Codenames!
