A few quick tips to keep your furry friends safe this 4th of July!

🎇Create a Safe Space: Set up a comfortable, quiet area in your home where your pet can retreat if they feel anxious. This could be a room with their bed, favorite toys, and some soothing background noise.

🎇Keep Pets Indoors: To prevent them from running away out of fear, it's best to keep your pets indoors during fireworks displays. Make sure windows and doors are securely closed.

🎇Identification: Ensure your pet is wearing an up-to-date ID tag and consider microchipping if you haven’t already. This can be a lifesaver if they do manage to escape.

🎇Avoid Human Food: Many foods we enjoy during holiday celebrations can be harmful to pets. Keep them away from the BBQ, alcohol, and other potentially toxic foods.

🎇Consult Your Vet: If your pet has severe anxiety, speak with your veterinarian about possible solutions, such as anxiety wraps or calming medications.

🎇Stay Calm: Pets can pick up on our stress. Try to remain calm and composed to help soothe them.

Update 1: Thank you Amy and Deb for helping remove over 40 bags of trash and filth from the cottage. Most of the trash is removed, house is fumigated, and contractor is scheduled for repairs. Over 6 full containers of non perishables were removed, cleaned, and taken to Martha’s Choice in Norristown today. Doggie art on all doors of the house that I just discovered the other day. Operation Deep Clean Part 1 with Mom begins Sunday. 🏡⛰️❤️

The good, the bad, but the truth about renting… first off, thank you to all of the family and friends who have supported me in my journey with Lucy’s Cottage. I feel it’s important to share the good… but also to share the reality. And we can all learn together through this! In January I started renting the cottage to a family who claimed their husband had cancer. I say claimed because at this point so many lies were told to me I don’t know what to believe. I worked with the family and the first two months went ok. After months of not paying and one sob story after another, I was finally able to evict them. That means it took months for me to be able to legally force them to leave. Months, money, and lots of stress. Thank you again to everyone who supported me through this. ❤️ I finally got the cottage back on Monday. It was completely trashed and there is much damage. A small part of my heart broken and gone forever. Dramatic… I know. But that’s how it feels. I WILL rebuild from here. But I have learned so much from others who have gone through similar experiences. You can do your best to protect yourself. But you can’t control others. Lessons learned. Tears shed. Coming out stronger on the other side. If you rent... I have some suggestions of things I learned that I think will be helpful… let’s connect. If you support me… THANK YOU! You are part of the reason I am getting through this. ❤️❤️. I will keep you posted on Lucy’s journey back to her beautiful, peaceful self.
