The truth is, you are not unlocking your full fat burning potential unless you start utilizing strength training in your workout routine. Here are 6 benefits you might not have known:

1️⃣ Increased muscle mass: Strength training helps build lean muscle mass, which in turn increases your resting metabolic rate. Muscle tissue requires more energy to maintain than fat tissue, so having more muscle means you burn more calories even when you're at rest.

2️⃣ Enhanced calorie burn: While cardio exercise primarily burns calories during the activity, strength training creates an "afterburn" effect. This means your body continues to burn calories at an elevated rate for hours after your workout.

PSA: instagram is just a highlight reel of what people CHOOSE TO SHARE.

And that’s usually what they are proud of/ feel comfortable sharing.

I am fighting that by trying to show more of the real.

And let’s be real… I don’t always have a flat stomach.

In fact I RARELY have a flat stomach.

And I AM okay with that.

Yes I struggle to picture it. To post the ones where you can see I don’t have a perfectly flat stomach.

But the truth is I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT.

I care about living balanced. Having pizza with my family on a Friday night. Date nights with my husband. And sharing a healthy relationship with food & movement with my children.

That’s what I care about.

That is WHY I do it. Not for the flat stomach.

You don't have to do anything drastic to feel much better on a daily basis. 💌

✨STOP HITTING SNOOZE. Wake up with an extra 10-15 min & just have a moment to yourself. That 8-9 minutes of crappy sleep ain't it.

✨ Drink more water earlier in the day & get sunlight as early as possible. Its crazy how much better you are going to feel from these simple things!! 💧☀️

✨ Aim for protein & fiber at every meal. You won't end up grazing so much.

✨ Stop wolfing down your meals WHILE working, scrolling, etc. This reinforces that nourishing your body well is not a priority.

✨Walk for 5 - 15 minutes after lunch & dinner. You will be amazed how much bloating you save yourself from!

✨ Gradually extend the gap between screen time and bedtime. You will go to bed earlier &&& feel better in the morning!

✨ Move in a way you enjoy!! Stop doing those dreaded HIIT workouts that you hate and always talk yourself out of. Not everyone is created equal and so not everyone's workout plans have to look the same. MOVEMENT can be enjoyable and should be a routine part of your life so start searching for what you enjoy today!

In what ways do you catch yourself trying to invent a magical 3rd door?

I'll go first.

I don't really want to work full time (40 hours, 5 days a week)....

But I really like the lifestyle I have created around an income of a full time employee.

I can't really invent a 3rd door. Either I work full time or I take a pay cut.

In life sometimes we want our cake & eat it too.

But goals & desires come with sacrifice.

MY GOAL is to teach you how to reach those goals & desires in a way that we can still enjoy food we love, balance & moderation. NO all or nothing mentality, but we still must make conscious choices each and every day that either lead us towards or away from our goals.

"I ate so much mommy, I am going to have a big fat tummy now"

I heard a little girl say this to her mom. 😳

I heard the sub context she was saying here...

Mom complains about her fat tummy. Mom complains about her choices with food. Mom doesn't feel good in her skin. Mom doesn't feel good enough because of her tummy.

Other comments your kids might be hearing:

💔 Mom says 'I ate too much', and refers to her big belly
💔 Mom says 'I need to skip dinner after this bad meal'
💔 Mom says 'I just look at a cookie and it goes straight to my hips, gut, etc'
💔 Mom says 'Its going to take a lot of hours on the tread mill to work off that meal'
💔 Mom says 'Your skinny. Enjoy eating whatever you want while you can, because one day it won't be that easy'

You might not realize but those minor insecure comments you make in the kitchen, the mirror, to your husband, to your child, to a friend...

YOUR kids are soaking up these messages.

Messages that can form an unhealthy relationship with body image, food, movement, and confidence.

Ohhh the days when I thought I was doing SO good eating my light butter.

Now I enjoy the full fat version of things like butter & peanut butter because I know first hand how bad I felt when my hormones were shot, my body was inflamed from so many 'choice' ingredients and my vitamin & nutrients were low from always consuming 'diet' foods.

Here's the trick people... it's not the full fat butter that's the issue.

It's the overconsumption of processed foods and drinks.

It's the over consumption in general.

A little butter on my toast, yes please! 😋

Confidence is something most of my clients come to me lacking.

They say summer bodies are made in the winter.

Here we are NOVEMBER 1st. We have bags of candy in our house from Trick-or-treating yesterday with our kids, we have Thanksgiving in 3 weeks, Christmas parties and festivities all December long.

What I want to say is - we don't have to wait until New Year to start making balanced choices.
---BUT---
We don't have to have the will power to decline all those tasty treats and Holliday season indulgences either.

What if we just started incorporating small BALANCED habits that would have us aligned for our summer body goals TODAY.

Here are 5 things you can start focusing on RIGHT NOW:
1️⃣ Build 3 meals a day with a protein forward mindset.
2️⃣ Focus on what you can add to your plate - maybe its more protein (as mentioned above), maybe its more fruits and veggies, maybe its more natural carb and fat sources like potatoes, grains, legumes, avocados, hummus.
3️⃣ Move daily - walking is the most underrated form of movement. Go for walks daily and try to incorporate a 3x a week strength training routine.
4️⃣ Get adequate sleep & focus on how your stress affects your body. We can't always take away stress or long nights - but we can manage our response to it.
5️⃣ Drink water. Set a goal for yourself. We all know water is important - yet we all could probably use a little improvement. Water goal FIRST then enjoy a fun beverage like that specialty coffee, guilty soda pleasure, or glass of wine.
