Damage from Hurricane Ian?

Here’s my top insurance tip:
Let your insurance company adjust your loss first. If you start with a public adjuster, they can take up to 30% of your claim proceeds as payment. Instead, start with your carrier because you keep 100% of the claim proceeds. If you’re unhappy with the amount at the end, then hire the public adjuster to get the additional amount you need. This will put more money in your pocket.

Hurricane season if not over yet, so make sure you’re prepared for anything over the next few weeks.

I remember when Hurricane Andrew was predicted to hit West Palm Beach days before it caused destruction in Miami. Although the paths are leaning toward Tampa or the Panhandle, don’t count severe weather out in your area. Make sure you’re staying up to date on all watches and warnings including storm surge, flash foods, and severe weather like tornados.
