We went back to 6th grade this week! Thank you Ms. Griffin’s class for being so great! Whittier elementary’s 6th graders had special guest from to serve pineberries for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program! Pineberries are a a white strawberry with a blush pink. They are a hybrid between the white Chilean strawberry and a North American wild strawberry. They are a tasty delicacy and the kids loved them!

Hope everyone is able to safely see some of the eclipse today! A solar eclipse happens around 2 times a year when the world’s largest orange slowly inches on Earth’s orbital plane and covers the sun. Science baby.

We had a great time at the food show with y’all!!! We also had a great time handing out the prizes you won at our food show!!! Thank you to everyone who participated in all the events! Thank you for all of your support. We couldn’t be successful without all of you! I know we’re missing a few friendly winning faces but here are some great photos of the not so shy winners!

We served Idaho potato wedges with Jonathan apples on Wednesday and the kids ate em up! Thank you kitchen staff at Whitney Elementary for such a great experience!
