As the first week of summer break unfolds, we fondly reflect on the last day of school. The day began with the beautiful Rose Ceremony, where our first graders bestowed blessings upon our eighth graders, sending them forth with warm wishes as they embark on their high school journey. We concluded with the Grand Handshake, a heartfelt tradition where everyone exchanges words of encouragement and farewells, celebrating the bonds we've nurtured throughout the year. 💡Did you know we have our own animal intervention program? Animals have a remarkable ability to bring comfort and emotional support to people. Whether it's a therapy dog or an emotional support animal, these furry, feathery and scaly friends have become incredible partners in helping us feel better and grow as individuals. At Peace Valley Charter School, we recognize the value of animal assisted intervention (AAI), and have integrated it into every classroom schedule, and our student support program. These pet companions have a special way of helping our students who are dealing with overwhelming situations, anxiety, emotional imbalance, social difficulties,and stress. AAI also supports the classroom culture through meaningful activities that allow students to learn and reinforce everyday life skills. 🌙🕯️What a magical evening we had at our Lantern Walks, where the soft glow of lovingly crafted lanterns symbolized the light within each of us and the warmth we share as a community. Children and parents alike created a breathtaking sea of light. 🍂If you’re new to Waldorf education, Martinmas holds universal significance, connecting us with the cycle of nature. Celebrated globally in November, it falls between the fiery out-breath of Michaelmas and the deep in-breath of the winter holidays. As part of the Martinmas Festival, Lantern Walks inspire a connection to nature, community, and the light within. Reminding children that they are the light in the darkness, the lantern walk ritual brings the light deep into our hearts to carry through the long dark days of winter. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the magic of this cherished Waldorf tradition.
