Bringing the drums to the elders has been a truly humbling experience.

All with their own unique expression through the instruments and their voices, participating to their best ability, co-creating harmonized music, and having fun with it.

It's yet another reminder that we all have rhythm no matter our age, that our connection to one another can be found within a few cooperative beats, and that the magic lies in the joy of the experience.

Ari Abrams & I (Shane Kipper) have deeply invested in our passion of serving communities through the utilization of the drum.

Buying quality equipment, investing in mentors, honing our cooperative facilitation practice, and deepening our connection with these truly medicinal instruments.

The drum is a natural "medicine".

The pulse of the drum connects with our heart beat - bringing it back into steady rhythm and allowing for deeper meditation, self exploration, relaxation, stimulation of endorphins through physical movement, increase in joyful expression, and much more.

I'm excited and honored to be hosting a workshop at this event titled, "The Sacred Circle: Building Community Connection Through Drumming". 🪘⭕️

It will be a workshop designed to develop connection and unity through the power of rhythmic expression - exploring how rhythm can be seamlessly integrated into daily life to enhance personal well-being and community connection.

Demonstrating how the drums serve as powerful tools for community building, promoting cooperation, and creating harmonious relationships

The intention is to provide a "learning through experience" workshop helping participants receive the message without words.

I'm excited to expand the rhythm of unity and connection as a global family through the drum and the sacredness of the circle.

The beautiful thing about a drum, is it can be anything:

Patting your chest
Hitting the table
Tapping the steering wheel
Using your voice
Stomping your feet
Clapping your hands

It's one of the simplest and fastest tools for lowering stress and anxiety levels, grounding and recalibrating our frequency, as well as facilitate healing and growth.

TRY THIS THETA BRAINWAVE EXERCISE:

🪘 Gently use your body as a drum (I prefer open palm to chest)
🪘 Focus the intention of peace, calmness, [insert your own] into mind.
🪘 Close your eyes if you feel called and take 3 deep cleansing and centering breaths.
🪘 Start tapping in a steady rhythm of: "1-2", "1-2", "1-2" (and so on - This is a faster paced frequency - 5 beats per minute / 5Hz / Theta brain wave)
🪘 Do this for 3-5 minutes focusing on your breathing and your intention.
🪘 Keep your hand on your chest and take 3 more deep breaths.
🪘 Shower yourself with gratitude and appreciation.

Now do this any time lower frequencies creep in.

I don't know about you, but the last few months have been quite a deep reflection period for me.

Slowing down and pausing to gain a new depth of self-knowing, truth, and direction.

The lesson I've been working to integrate is an understanding and grace with myself and the seasons of life.

Allowing this time to be one of rest and recovery as we move into Spring, bringing new beginnings, new life, and a fresh vibrant energy.

At the Cosmic Pulse: Community Drum Circle, we open the gatherings with the 4 Directions Prayer calling upon the spirits of the four cardinal directions—East, South, West, and North (each of which is associated with specific elements, qualities, and animal spirits).

Recognizing, honoring, and asking for guidance during the event and in our own lives.

** Animal Spirits and prayer meaning vary depending on tradition | this is based on indigenous tribes of the Americas **

The North, associated with wisdom, elders, and the cold, challenging times that test us represents the winter, a time for sharing stories, wisdom, and gratitude.

The North encourages contemplation, knowledge, and the sharing of wisdom.

The Hummingbird Animal Spirit represents the North - Despite its small size, the hummingbird is resilient, traveling great distances - symbolizing joy, endurance, and the sweetness of life.

Calling upon the hummingbird spirit is a reminder to find joy in life's journey and to persevere through challenges with lightness and agility.

With the Sun showing us warm signs of our transition into the next Season of life, Spring brings a time for new growth, possibilities, and the renewal of life.

Just as the sun rises in the East to mark the start of a new day, spring signals the awakening of the earth from its winter rest.

The Animal Spirit of the East is the Eagle or Condor, flying high in the sky and is seen as a messenger to the Creator, symbolizing vision, wisdom, and strength.

Invoking the eagle spirit is calling for clarity, illumination, and the ability to see the bigger picture in life's journey.

So if you've noticed a bit of a pep in your step, give thanks to the renewing spirit of the East/Spring 🙏
