The weather is 🔥🔥🔥 so taking special care of your tattoo during summer is essential.

Here are some tips for summer tattoo care:

Wear sunscreen 🌞
Sunscreen is the most important thing you can do to protect your tattoo from the sun. It's crucial even on overcast days! Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and make sure to reapply it every two hours or more often if you're sweating or swimming. (Tattoo sunscreen is available on our website or at the Studio).

Cover up 🕶️
Cover up your tattoo with clothing if you will be in the sun for an extended period. This will help to protect it from the sun's rays even more effectively than sunscreen alone.

Avoid swimming 🏊‍♀️
The chlorine in pools and the salt in the ocean can irritate your tattoo and cause it to fade. If you swim, cover newer tattoos with a waterproof bandage and heavily sunscreen fully-healed tattoos with water-resistant sunscreen 30 minutes prior and reapply after.

Moisturize 💦
Keeping your tattoo moisturized will help keep the ink looking vibrant! We recommend the Ink Spa all-natural, vegan, organic tattoo balm (available on our website or at the Studio.)

Stay hydrated💧
Drinking plenty of water will help to keep your skin healthy and hydrated, which can help to prevent your tattoo from fading or your skin from flaking due to dryness.

Tattoo Bandage 🩹
If you're getting a new tattoo soon, ask your artist to cover it with a Saniderm protective bandage, ask for aftercare instructions, and read our Summer Tattoo Care Blog for additional healing tips.
