Yay for Eugene!
BREAKING NEWS: The City of Eugene, Oregon, became the first community in the nation to specifically ban from city property the use of neonicotinoid pesticides, scientifically linked to the decline of honey bee colonies. The passage of the resolution came just one week after the Oregon state legislature passed a pollinator protection bill that removed language requiring the restriction of neonicotinoid pesticides, and includes instead a weaker requirement to set up a task force that will examine the possibility of future restrictions. In addition to neonicotinoid restrictions, the Cityβs resolution also expands Eugeneβs pesticide-free parks program and now requires all departments to adopt integrated pest management (IPM) standards...

A good resource for you herbies out there!
contact.achs.edu Every year, gardeners and farmers of all types celebrate the harvest season. It can be hard work, but now is the time to reap what youβve sown in spring and summer! Are there herbs throughout your garden that you really want to harvest, but maybe youβre not quite sure how?
Meet my friends Monarda, Horehound, Melissa and Mint. Moistened with a little brandy. Tomorrow I'll fill the jar with raw honey for a terrific throat soother and cough syrup. Winter is coming!
Giant Turkish Plantain is going into the dehydrator tonight. It will become an oil infusion later on, for Bug Bite & Boo-Boo Balm. I was stung by a bee yesterday... Thanks, Universe, for the reminder!
Okay, one more new item I need to talk about. Have you ever been to the dermatologist for a suspicious mole or spot and he says, "Let's just watch it"? This Watch-It Oil is perfect for that.
I have a new product, available for the first time this weekend at the Hyde Park Street Fair: Green Tea Soap Scrub. Do you hate how regular salt scrubs make the tub oily and slippery? This one is in a base of pure soap.
Recognize this? A collection of herbs from Professor Snape's Potions class. I had a fun tour of the Harry Potter movie set in London, and I had to smile at how similar my own apothecary shelves look.
The festival is getting close now--July 12-14. If you're in Ketchum, I hope you'll check us out. I'm excited to share a booth with Indigo Moons!
The festival is getting close now! Watch for brightly colored ads in the Mountain Rides buses advertising KAF for a month previous to the festival (should be going up any day!)
Running low on a tincture or salve? Come see me at the Arts & Crafts Festival in historic Roseberry on the long weekend. Especially if you're going up to McCall anyway. New products include First Aid Stick--a perfect, pocket-size treatment for life's little ouches.
If you have eczema, come see me at the Iaho Green Fest at North End Organic Nursery next weekend. I have a wonderful cream made from fresh violets.
Ahh, dandelion! The harbinger of Spring. Here's a great kid-friendly recipe for fritters:http://learningherbscourse.s3.amazonaws.com/herbfairies/DandelionFritters.pdf

The batch of elderberry tonic that I bottled last night is particularly delicious. It's thick and syrupy. And I added cinnamon this year as well as ginger. Yum. $12 a bottle and I deliver within Boise.
