The 2021 Pilot Trail Program starts this Wednesday, April 28. Our team is adding signage at all four pilot program locations (parking lots, trailheads and all trail junctions) and we'll have volunteers and trail rangers out educating users throughout the rollout. The separation of use management strategy at Bucktail Trail will take place following the pedestrian-only trail build in May. We'll keep users updated as that work is completed. It has been well-documented that the presence of pain is not a good indicator of health status. In other words, health cannot be based on the presence or absence of pain. It has been well-established that pain is not the cause of a problem. Instead, the presence of pain is an indicator that something is wrong but is not typically the cause of the problem. The cause of the problem must be addressed, and the pain is a symptom of the problem, not the cause. If we only address the symptom and leave the cause to progress, the cause will only get worse. Chiropractic addresses the Cause!

Why supplement Vitamin D? Vitamin D supports bone health, mineral absorption, the immune system, and cellular processes.

The NCBI website states: "It is now clear that vitamin D has important roles in addition to its classic effects on calcium and bone homeostasis. As the vitamin D receptor is expressed on immune cells (B cells, T cells and antigen presenting cells) and these immunologic cells are all are capable of synthesizing the active vitamin D metabolite, vitamin D has the capability of acting in an autocrine manner in a local immunologic milieu. Vitamin D can modulate the innate and adaptive immune responses. Deficiency in vitamin D is associated with increased autoimmunity as well as an increased susceptibility to infection. As immune cells in autoimmune diseases are responsive to the ameliorative effects of vitamin D, the beneficial effects of supplementing vitamin D deficient individuals with autoimmune disease may extend beyond the effects on bone and calcium homeostasis."

It is probably safe to say stress is at an all time high for many. It's important to take the necessary steps to protect your own health. There's no better time than now!

What is happening to our health...?

When we are in a state of fight or flight, or experiencing high levels of stress, our immune system shuts down in order to protect the body. Example: If we are being chased by a large sabre-tooth tiger and at the same time are battling a bacterial infection, our body will know that running from this tiger and surviving is priority and will shut down its immune system in order to allocate the body’s resources. What’s interesting about this is that keeping your body in this fight or flight, highly stressed out, state for too long can eventually lead to a compromised immune system and disease. If you zoom out and look at the stressful world we live in today, it makes sense that our immune systems are constantly in a state of imbalance!
