Deciding when to head to the hospital or birth center is one of the hardest things for expecting parents to decipher. 🤔 Head in too soon, and you get sent back home. Head in too late, and you may have that baby in the car 🤣 An easy rule to follow is the 3-1-1, 4-1-1, or 5-1-1 guideline. (Ask your midwife or doctor which guideline they’d like you to use) 👩⚕️ Having *intense*, consistent, close contractions for an hour is a good sign that you are in active labor and progressing! Yay!! 🎉 *intense meaning you have to focus on your breathing and cannot speak during the contractions and need to rest in between 😮💨 However, remember, every body and labor is different. This is only a guideline so always listen to your intuition and head to your birth place when you feel it’s time to do so. 💡 How can a doula help??
