The IRC in Boise staff supports newly arrived refugees in several ways, but aside from day-to-day tasks, we're all advocates. Being an advocate is ensuring that spaces in Boise are welcoming to all and that organizations are focused on diversity.

Supporting the IRC in Boise is supporting advocates.

The events that have unfolded in the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel over the past month are unprecedented and the suffering is enormous.

Our only interest is the lives of civilians, and how we can help them survive fighting that is increasingly intense and deadly. At the moment, that means focusing on Gaza, where more than 2 million Palestinian civilians and hostages taken in Israel face peril and disaster every day.

There is an imperative to reduce the death and suffering of the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza. We have a team on the ground in Egypt and are trying to work with partners to deliver supplies and provide bespoke and specialist support. But the barriers to access are immense.

Our reminder: Civilians are bearing the brunt of this conflict and must be protected.

The IRC in Boise wanted to shout out staff from the Economic Empowerment team who presented to students at BSU visiting from Peru and Bolivia! This team discussed ways that gender inequalities happen in resettlement through finance and careers and brainstormed with participants in efforts to close this gap.

The IRC in Boise is grateful for the partnerships throughout the Treasure Valley, and looks forward to more community engagement work in the future! 🎉
