The Institute for Advancing American Values Distinguished Lecture Series presents speaker Dr. Danielle Allen, political theorist and James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University, on April 14, 7 - 8 p.m. Dr. Allen will be speaking on "Building a More Perfect Union." The event will be a webinar with moderated discussion, followed by a Q & A.
Allen is the principal investigator for the Democratic Knowledge Project, which seeks to identify, strengthen, and disseminate the bodies of knowledge, skills, and capacities that democratic citizens need in order to succeed at operating their democracy; a Chair of the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship; past Chair of the Pulitzer Prize and Mellon Foundation Boards; and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.

All incoming students must have a completed Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from a regionally accredited college or university. This degree is not available to traditional freshmen. The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) is an interdisciplinary degree, which means you can take upper division courses from a variety of disciplines, but you are required to choose a minor or an emphasis to satisfy the Area of Emphasis requirement.
Students graduate with a strong foundation in:

-Technical/analytical skills
