"A well lived home is not only beautiful, but functional.
Interior Design services including new construction, remodels, space-planning, finish/furnishing selections, & re-design.
I am overdue for a personal social media update:
🌟I believe in the high & low concept in my design aesthetic, but also in all areas of life.
I firmly believe that good interior design increases happiness, creates calm, and improves your daily life💞
🤓The older I get the less I “know” for sure, but the more confident I am.
🌳I am a native Idahoan! I grew up in Boise.
Nowadays this seems rare…
🎓I have a degree in Interior Design
🧑🏻👧🏻I have two (now adult😱)kids ages 18 & 20-They were born only two years and one day apart! We struggled with infertility. Being a mom has been my greatest joy! 💞
Having an almost empty nest is hard😢
👩❤️👨I have been married 25 years.
✈️🇫🇷🌺My two favorite places to travel to (so far) are France & Kauai. Both are magic in their own way. Giverny, France is my latest obsession. (Monet’s birthplace 🎨)
🏘️After personally building 3 homes-
(one completely custom 5500 sq. ft. on over an acre) we decided to live a more minimalist/simple/intentional lifestyle and recently moved into a townhome!
🍁Fall is by far my favorite season in Boise.☀️Summer is my least favorite...
🍪I love Chips cookies & Costco sheet cake
I make the best homemade cinnamon rolls.
🍣Sushi is my very favorite food.
📚🎧I am a self improvement avid book reader and podcast ju**ie.
🎙I had my own women’s podcast for 4 years- . It was a side passion/labor of love. (episodes still available!) I hit pause on it from burnout, but plan to relaunch a new podcast at some point.
💃🏻I love dancing…If there is a dance floor I will be on it!
👵🏻I quit dying my gray hair over 5yrs. ago and have never regretted it. I also have naturally curly hair that I have always embraced ➰
1️⃣ is my Enneagram number. “The Improver or perfectionist” This can be good and bad. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t. It will improve your relationships!
🩷My word of the year has been “Pause” … with my main new Project being Me. Crazy right?! I finally decided to make my health/fitness a priority this year and it’s going great. Life changing stuff actually.
.
Hoping you all stayed cool yesterday with record temps in here Boise!

This is a fun pool mud bench I designed. I especially love the penny tiles, and plenty of storage!

Was able to keep the “bones” of this room while still giving it a dramatic transformation.
A cool feature added was the tile wrapped columns to add visual interest and texture.
Painted the ceiling a deep green to help the room feel comfortable and relaxing.
Added custom sofas, with dual functional storage leather ottomans for comfort and function.
.
A couple weeks ago, I shared in my stories that I had WON the Idaho’s Best statewide award, as well as the Treasure Valley award for Best Interior Design.
🎉🎉
I appreciate immensely all of your support & kind words.
I wanted a permanent spot to once again say thank you to my wonderful clients who made this possible.
I am filled with much gratitude for trusting me to transform your spaces. 🤗
I firmly believe in the power and impact of good design!

I love color and I love rugs 😍
If you want a non traditional rug these tiles are a great option.
They work well in kitchens, and high traffic areas.
The designs and options are also fantastic!
Building beautiful spaces is more than just aesthetics—it's about trust. 🏡✨
Interior design isn't merely selecting colors and furniture; it's a collaboration built on trust between designer and client.
It's about understanding your dreams, curating spaces that reflect you, and creating havens where you can relax and be you. 💫✨
If you have no idea what your "style" is, you can start by looking in your closet. What colors and textures do you see?
-Start a mood board—gather images that catch your eye. Pick up a home magazine.
-Notice what you are drawn to around you....Whether it's a cozy café, a breathtaking landscape, or an art piece.
Choices, choices, choices... feeling a bit stuck in the design maze? 🤔🎨 You've all been there! Sometimes, the sheer array of options can be overwhelming when it comes to designing your space. Don't worry, I'm here to turn that confusion into clarity! ✨ Let's navigate through the MANY possibilities together and bring your vision to life. 🌟💡
Designing kids spaces is always a favorite of mine. I love being able to go bold, while incorporating personality into a space.
I also like to include 𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀 when possible in a timeless way. (For example the 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 photos shown here) 🩰
The first photo shows a black and white piece of art with 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 shoes to boldly showcase her sport, without competing with the wallpaper.
The small antique ballerina photo in her adjoining bathroom is subtle, yet classy.
What questions do you have about designing kids spaces?
When in doubt….TILE everything!
It gives the space a luxurious feel and is also very functional.

With this remodel we kept the “bones”-
The cabinets, tub, and toilet and added new hardware, plumbing, countertop, lights, & tile.
Thank you for being here and following along on my journey as a small business owner.
It has definitely been a journey of learning, growth, gratitude, and overcoming fears.
I absolutely LOVE seeing the results that come from changing the space around us.
We feel different inside when we are surrounded by intentional, functional, beautiful, and organized spaces.
So thankful for my family, friends, colleagues, and clients. 💕💕💕

Another great project video complete.
Amazing clients! This remodel we kept the existing cabinets, painted, and added uppers and new hardware. The hood was completely remade and I absolutely love the tile on it. New quartz counters, appliances, plumbing, and all new floors. We also converted an unused desk to a coffee/wine bar for more functionality. Last some new counter stools, rugs, and a few new accessories. This client had some fun collections we were able to showcase as well.
*I had some BEFORE photos interjected throughout the video so you can see where we started😱🙌🏼
I love a good STILL before & after photo! 🙌🏼

UP YOUR PILLOW GAME!
Buying TIPS below⬇️
Decorative accent pillows can add SO much to a space, as well as add cohesion to a room.
A lot of projects I may start with the decorative pillow fabric and work the space around that! Pulling colors out of it for larger pieces such as furniture or draperies.
Lumbar pillows are also a great place to add a finishing touch to your bed.
You should expect to pay from $65-$200 for a nice decorative unique accent pillow.
Average is about $100 per pillow cover.
If ordering a designer fabric that must be custom sewn you can easily go higher.
Down fillers run $25+ depending on size. (Always use down!)
Yes, you can sometimes find great quality accent pillows for less at places like homegoods, but it’s really hit or miss and VERY hard to randomly make these work if you’re designing around something. A good quality brand I have found there a lot is called ‘Villa Home’
Target has its place but a lot of those pillows do not have much pattern and are not very unique. I often see sofas with pillows that have all the same size print. (Mixing prints is another lesson for another day)
Most cheaper options are polyester filled so they tend to look boxy.
Decorative Pillows really are like jewelry is to an outfit and also very personal!
My favorite retail places to shop for accent pillows online are:
▪️West elm
▪️Anthropologie
▪️Stuck on Hue
▪️Tonic Living
▪️Pepperhome
Favorite Etsy pillow shops:
▪️CushiDesignsCo
▪️PopOColor
▪️ShopLittleDesignCo
▪️MilaMiroStudio
▪️PetajaFiberWorks
I also have a small pillow shop on my website over at kirstenbrocknerinteriors.com/shop/

👩❤️👨I married my college sweetheart-right after graduating from Interior design school. We’ve been married 24 years.
