Float the Boise services are closed for the 2024 season. However, the Boise River never technically "closes" - it is always a float at your own risk activity. Please be aware if you are planning to float from Barber Park to Ann Morrison Park today there are trees down along the Boise River following last night's scattered thunderstorms. These photos show the in-river hazard adjacent to Albertsons Stadium on the Boise State University campus. There are a total of four trees in the water blocking the channel at this location and the Boise Fire Department is working to mitigate them today (Tuesday, September 3). Please be alert and aware any time you float the Boise River as it is a wild, scenic river with natural hazards.

We are about two-thirds of the way through official float season on the Boise River. It’s been a busy, hot summer, and the numbers show it! Here’s a look at the stats at the 40-day mark into our 60-day season:

• An average high temperature of 96.3 degrees
• About 9,000 rafts and 9,000 tubes rented in Barber Park
• Around 35,000 shuttle riders, a 5.6% increase over the same time period in 2023
• A weekend daily vehicle average of 902 cars at the Barber Park launch site
• More than 21,500 cars entered Barber Park during kiosk hours, with an average of 539 vehicles per day — that’s a 2.5% increase from the same time period in 2023

These numbers are important because they show us what resources floaters are using and how they’re using them, which helps tell us how we can continue to support a safe and fun float experience.

Idaho is too great to litter 🗑️ Please pack out what you pack in when floating the Boise River. This includes keeping parking lots and other impacted areas clean. These photos show some of the litter neighbors in Harris Ranch have been left to pick up after busy float weekends. It's up to all of us to take care of these spaces and help preserve the positive experience thousands of people enjoy each summer. We appreciate your help and cooperation!

Please note — This field is not overflow parking to float the Boise River. Only park in designated areas or you could be ticketed or towed.

The Boise River is a wild and scenic river and wildlife encounters are common. This week, Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) has received reports of a young bull moose that has made its way into Southeast Boise near the intersection of S. Millbrook Way and E. Warm Springs Ave. near Barber Park. While a moose in town does not inherently pose a safety risk, area residents and river recreators should take precautions to avoid an unwelcome encounter. If you happen to see the moose, please give it a wide berth. Sightings can be reported to IDFG as staff members are monitoring the situation.

There is a trailer at the take out in Ann Morrison Park where you can deposit them. The Boise River is a wild, scenic river with natural hazards. It's important to have a sturdy raft or tube to prevent snags on low hanging branches. Review our safety checklist here: https://www.floattheboise.org/pages/safety-checklist
