In Loving Memory of Dale Rutter
As some of you may know, former Boise Curling Club member Dale Rutter passed away peacefully in November. Dale was a much-loved friend and club member and served in many capacities within our club, including serving on the S.O.B. committee and on the board. Dale leaves behind cherished memories and a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In recognition of Dale's unwavering commitment to his country and his profound dedication to service, a military honors funeral will be held in his honor this Friday. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the funeral. Please join us in honoring the life of Dale.

We've got the St. Paddy's spirit on the ice tonight!
Good curling to club member Josh and his teammates at the Evergreen 3 & Under this weekend! They took home third place after a grueling six game schedule. We love our regional friends at Evergreen Curling Club and the fun spiels they put on!
We are saddened to report the passing of one of our club's founders, Don Eshelby.
Don was instrumental in building the club's foundations, both figuratively and literally -- he mentored new curlers, helped establish club operations as club president, built our stone storage boxes and more.
Friends of Don have asked for donations to the club in his memory. You can donate to the Don Eshelby Memorial Fund at this link:
https://boisecurlingclub-435859.square.site/product/doneshelbymemorialfund/99
We will also be awarding the first Don Eshelby Volunteer of the Year award at our End of Year meeting, as a tribute to Don's legacy as a "professional volunteer."
As memorial information becomes available, we'll pass it along.
The building adjacent to the Windy City Curling Club recently experienced a fire. While the curling club didn't catch fire, there is extensive smoke and water damage. Their plan is to recover and reopen, but they would appreciate any financial help you can give to help in order to get them back up and running. If you would like to help them out, please follow the link in this post to donate to their GoFundMe!
We had an absolute blast hosting our friends from the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes this week!

Here we goooooooo!
Let's hear it for team Button Mashers (Paul, Isaac, Emily and Zach) who competed at their very first bonspiel this weekend at the Evergreen 5 & Under! They're coming back to Boise with a win and a ton of reps. Thanks for taking great care of our newest spielers!
π₯ Get ready for the coolest party in Stanley β literally! The Sawtooth Outdoor Bonspiel (S.O.B.) is back, and no, it's not a complaint about the chilly weather; it's the Boise Curling Club's hottest event on ice!
βοΈ This bonspiel is the stuff of legends, raising over $30,000 since 2013. Last year, we raked in a whopping $8,000 β not bad for a bunch of ice enthusiasts sliding rocks around, right? But hold onto your brooms, folks! We're on a mission to beat that record in 2024, and we need your help. If you or anyone you know wants to be part of the icy magic, consider becoming a sponsor. It's like adopting a curling stone, but with fewer responsibilities.
βοΈ What's in it for you, you ask? Well, aside from being cooler than an ice sculpture, sponsors get their name plastered on the SOB website, featured in our club's social media shenanigans, and even displayed on banners at the rink and banquet hall in Stanley β because nothing says "I'm a big deal" like being on a banner next to a bunch of curling stones.
βοΈ But wait, there's more! Sponsors will also enjoy the warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing they've helped keep the S.O.B. alive for years to come and nudged the Boise Curling Club closer to their dream of a dedicated ice facility. It's like a cozy, charitable hug for your heart!
βοΈ Check out the VIP treatment you'll get as a sponsor at https://www.sobidaho.com/sponsors.html. Ready to jump on the curling bandwagon? Email Jared at [email protected] and let him know you're in for the coolest sponsorship opportunity of 2024! βοΈπ₯

We've gone international, baby! π₯π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
"For filling the top of their curling bucket list, Bud Way and Philippe Didier from the Boise Curling Club along with buddies Merwyn Nash from Montana and Canadian Charles Funk, participated in the 2023 Senior International Curling Bonspiel. The event was held November 18-20 at Curl Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. Of the 20 menβs team competing, they were one of only two teams from the United States. They all agreed it was the highlight of their curling careers!"
Thank you to our friend Zane Way for sharing this photo and note with us, and to Curl Edinburgh for being such great hosts to our members!
Congratulations to our Fall League winners!
Team Broom Shaka Laka (Jared B, Robo H, Taylor J, Vince C) took home the top spot for the Navy division, while Team Stone Masons (Asher M, Bud W, Kim H, Mason C) won the Coral division.
The club may or may not have taken creative liberties in adding missing players to this week's team photos. π€·ββοΈ
