This 3-layer, 10 inch gem is a vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream and a blueberry & strawberry jam filling! Blueberries and strawberries are two of Dottie's favorite fruits! 🍓🫐🍓🫐
This is our grand prize for Dottie's Sweet 16 birthday which is tomorrow! She will have her very own special cake, which I will post tomorrow. But we want to draw the winner for this cake tonight! We are only $16 away from our goal!

I also whipped up some (vegan) French toast inspired semlor (semla, singular) for ! Cardamom + cinnamon bun, toasted walnut + maple marzipan, and vanilla bean whipped cream. Divine! 🥞

When I saw the March prompt for was semlor, I knew immediately I wanted to make a hot crossed bun-inspired version. Perfect for Easter weekend! ❎

Vegan tres leches cake for February's project! 🍓 I'll be honest with you, I almost didn't share this because it was a FLOP. 🙈 I tried a new recipe and the cake was too dense to properly absorb the milk soak (and I probably rushed it a bit), so only the very top of the cake had the proper moisture ratio. In the end, I had a dense, flavorless cake with a wet top, not enough strawberry sauce, and whipped cream that should have had more sugar. 🙃
I wasn't looking forward to this bake because I don't like wet cake, so tres leches is not my first pick. But after this result, I'm eager to try it again. And that's the whole point of this baking project, right? Try new things and learn along the way! 🤓

Kristina Ann Cakes will be raffling off a custom cake to one lucky winner to raise funds for Walk MS 2024! 🧡 I was caught off-guard by a multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis a few years ago. While adjusting has been hard, I got fairly lucky with how the disease presents in my body. Not everyone is that fortunate, but thankfully the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to finding a cure through fundraising efforts like Walk MS. 🫶

Leftover frangipane and amaretto-soaked dried fruits on a pre-made puff pastry for a quick and easy galette kinda thing. 💫

Rosca de Reyes for 's January bake! 👑

I used a classic dough studded with orange zest and filled it with frangipane, walnuts, and amoretto-soaked dried mango and apricots. Topped with streusel, glittery guava paste flowers, sliced almonds, and candied oranges. 🍊

This was a fun and challenging bake in all the best ways! I thoroughly enjoyed researching the history and traditions that come with the Rosca de Reyes (Wreath of Kings), which is enjoyed by Christians on Three Kings Day/Epiphany (January 6th) to celebrate the day the three kings visited baby Jesus. The wreath is decorated to symbolize the gifts brought to him. 🎁 Typically, a tiny, plastic baby Jesus is hidden in the bread and whomever finds him must cook the tamales for Candelaria Day (February 2nd)! 😋
