Great turnout at the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce Connect, Educate, Build event today! Thanks to Serenity Chambers, Social Media Consultant and Owner of the The Serene Corner LLC, for helping everyone understand social media a bit more and allowing plenty of time to answer questions
At DUCAP we're blessed to have Serenity serve as one of our volunteer Adult Leadership Group members. She and our Romeoville Teen Leadership Group Chair, Ben, are currently developing training resources for our teen leaders that will be doing social media for DuCAP.
One of her tips was to incorporate video into your posts whenever you can because the reach is tremendously higher when you do. Since we didn't capture anything to add here, let us suggest you head on over to her page and find some of her great videos there.
Check out 3 of our Romeoville Leadership Group members. They met last week at the White Oak Library District to begin work on a couple new initiatives. One will be focused on mental health and done in partnership with the Rotary Club of Romeoville and area businesses. DM us if you’d like to learn more and/or to join us at our first meeting.
Thank you to the team at the library for being such great partners with us in serving teens and their families! Learn more about our joint program, Game Time at the Library, held on early release days this fall for those 10 and up. https://ducap.org/series/game-time-romeoville/
A huge thanks to the Tioga Elementary School PTA for inviting DUCAP to participate in their back to school event. Our teen volunteers from Fenton High School District 100 Interact Club enjoyed seeing all the happy faces. 😀
🎉 Exciting News for the Casita in Bensenville! 🎉
We are thrilled to share that a brand-new cabinet has been built by Alfonso, one of our community members! This is designed to store goodies and activities for them to enjoy! 🙌
A HUGE thank you to Julissa, pictured on the left, and Herlinda, pictured on the right, who helped stock it with all sorts of treats and supplies.
Help us wish a happy 🎂 birthday to Maryann Schumacher Jozwiak, a DuCAP volunteer and a rock ⭐ star at it! We appreciate her commitment and selfless dedication to so many youth. 🫶

👏 Some of our Romeoville Teen Leadership Group members met today and divided up responsibilities for the various initiatives they’re planning this year.
🍟They started out catching up over dinner together. Many of them worked at their first job this summer and their conflicting schedules made it hard for these busy teens to meet.
✋🏼If you’re a teen or adult looking to make a difference in your community who would love to join them or our other groups (in Villa Park, Bensenville, Bolingbrook, Glendale Heights or Wheaton), check out this link to learn more and complete our interest form https://ducap.org/get-involved/volunteer/
We were delighted to work alongside Will Pole and his Focuos group today to clean up an empty lot. We hope to convert this lot into a playground for the children of the Hywood Lane neighborhood in The Village of Bolingbrook. Thank you all that came out and a special thanks to Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta for taking time out of her very busy schedule. 🫶🛝
📣GUESS WHAT?! Our Bolingbrook Teen Leadership Group has been working on something really cool this summer!! They've met weekly for many hours at a time brainstorming and researching and writing....all because they've wanted to.
🤐Can't share details yet....but we can tell you that Arnav just hit the submit button on their application🎉
🙌 Stay tuned for the official announcement once their approval comes through.
🏙️Last week our Bolingbrook and Romeoville Teen Leadership Groups went to One Rotary Center, in Evanston.
☀️The teens had a lot of fun, and were accompanied by members of Bolingbrook Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Romeoville.
🇳🇬We were also with a Rotarian from Nigeria, and his friend who lives in Chicago!
🌎🌍🌏On this trip, the teens and adults learned a lot of ways that Rotary helps the world with its many organizations, like The Rotary Foundation, End Polio Now, and MANY others!
❓Did you know? Rotary is the world’s first, and largest service organization!

Great time at National Night Out in Wheaton! The rain did not keep us away!
DuCAP enjoyed participating in last nights National Night Out hosted by the Villa Park Police. As you can see, many families came out to enjoy all the fun activities. 👍🏻🚔🎉
Great time at Glendale Heights National Night out last night. ✨Thank you Glendale Heights Police Department for inviting us. We shared our space with our partners over at 💜 Grand Canyon University. Great to see so many families out before the rain!
The Village of Romeoville Police Department’s National Night Out was booming with residents and community partners. 🎉 Commander Demetrius Anderson and his team pulled off a great event for the community to enjoy together. 💥 Our teens are fortunate to have him serve on our Adult Leadership Group alongside other amazing adult mentors like Kelli who came out last night. Their time and dedication supporting our teens as they carry out their ideas helps make their community a better and safer place to live. 🙌
DUCAP has volunteers, staff and interns spread out in 5 of our 6 communities tonight supporting the police departments on National Nighf Out 🎉 We’re blessed to have one of our partners, Grand Canyon University joining us at many of our events. Here are some pics from the event in Bensenville. Stayed tuned for some from the other 4 towns.
Today our Bolingbrook Teen Leadership Group met to plan the many ways they’ll make a difference in their community from Sept through December. So proud of this amazing group of middle school and high school students and the adults that support them. 🎉
Keep your eyes out for great things to come.
Last night our Villa Park IGNITE 🏀 basketball team wrapped up their 7-1 season with a final win against Bensenville. Today the team is celebrating by having a local pool party.
More than the W’s, we truly enjoyed watching the team bond and become friends 🫶. It’s even more important to DuCAP that the team succeeds “off the court” more than just on!
A special thanks to our coaches Justin & Madison for instilling sportsmanship first. We also want to acknowledge our supporters from VP Charities and Nathan Cook. ⛹🏼♀️ CONGRATS VP IGNITE!
Great turnout at the DuPage Township Tools for Schools event! Thanks to our Teen Leadership Group and summer interns for spending the afternoon sharing about the many youth driven, adult supported programs we have for those 11-17 yrs old! Kudos to the Township for providing these much needed resources to our community 🎉
💥 Such a productive night in our Bensenville community as our adult and teen leadership group members met to plan their next few months. They also got to meet our newest Community Engagement Director, Jennifer 👏
What’s on their youth driven, adult supported list for their next few months you ask? Trunk or Treat, Movie Under the Stars, Animal Shelter volunteering, community cleanup, water park and sky zone visit.
Thanks to donations from our partners We Pop Up and the Rotary Club of Elmhurst, logistical support from our DUCAP team and hands on work from the adult and teen leaders in the community these ideas will soon become reality for the Elm Court Community 🎉
