I saw a post somewhere skimming that had a young trainee and a string of horses packing supplies to firetowers....yes it is beautiful...yes it is like something out of a movie, and if you have good stock can be quite fun....But know this...like field trialing, and many other outdoor pursuits it takes work and knowledge....I would like to see how many of the generation today could put five gallons of gas, a ten horse motor, an inflatable boat, and for kickers let's throw in a trolling motor, and a few rods...on the back of a mule and carry it let's give it 15 miles. Ain't gonna happen!! I was taught by a man that could pack I beam girders around switchbacks with his mules....It is an art like many...that is simply disappearing!

You know it is bad when the watch battery...costs more than the watch your wearing...I did'nt learn much when I had to go to the dean with my economics paper to get my grade after giving like a two sentence answer. If you cannot make money making widgets....quit making widgets. That is as simple as it can be explained.... course mine went from like a d minus to a b plus...because it was true!

Fixing to turn loose on a bear hunting/camping/bear country tip podcast...boy with all the people headed North for the bears, well I need to fill them in on some tips about judging, bugs, and smaller bears hassling you...not to mention the for the campers, and backpackers,,,Bears are pretty sharp and I am fully convinced that most of the smaller bears on bait are killed cause the hunter gets worried...Here is one surefire way to be left alone...course we saw seventeen bears one sitting, and I'm pretty good about not duplicating...but even if I did...we were in bear habitat to the Tee!

It's got to be the delivery and the information...I mean I have gotten on several at daybreak and pet them to the gun at 1-2 p.m....most things people don't consider is a turkey really has no where in particular that he must be...in most cases...Second, give the bird to the man that has the call he likes...don't be convinced you going to add anything by just slinging noise through the woods, Many real turkey callers get a feel for the bird, then begin to build their hand, so if someone is hot...let him do it. As I am fond of saying I don't care if he gobbles at a flying squirrel holler, as long as he does it...and trust your calling, don't expect them all to just bust right on the scene, pay attention to the woods, listen for drumming, just wait...most time he'll be along directly if he started that way!

That's sure what it turned out to be in South Mississippi this year...let the only sure one go...oh well...I'll come back a little harder for these turkeys that only gobble maybe once or twice...a year!

HERE IS THE GOAT...I LOST THE CD IN THE MASSIVE REMANUVERING...BUT AS I TELL EVERYONE...DON'T WORRY I FOUND IT...THE GOAT WAS A SAGA, WE BACKPACKED FROM ONE LAKE TO ANOTHER...THE ENTIRE TRIP WAS A BLAST...ONCE YOU GOT INTO EVERY STEP WAS HELL...I HAD PUT A SEVEN ON MY PHYSICAL FITNESS SCORE...AFTER RUNNING WITH BRYAN MARTIN...I SHOULD HAVE PUT A TWO! AND YES..THEY LOVE TO BE ON TOP!

Greatly improved the sleeping accomadations in the little Escape, by simply getting all my extra gear outta the way...I'll post some pics, and its ready for some super turkey commando work!

SAVED this for last...took a bit of boot leather but finally stumbled across a drainage that had a decent buck working it...I have seen different, but in general the rule big rubs...big deer kinda go together...this one has quite a track for South MS, and in another part of the state they have pics of a seven year old deer as identified with a scar...his rack has went to spikes again...big pedicels or bases of course...but his body in the photos is immense...so whatever he may be he got big feet and I really like those big ol'bucks that have some age on them, my KS deer that just missed netting PY, weighed some 275 lbs. and was at a minimum six...maybe seven...they had his drops of the past three years, and he was still just a big stud seven point when I shot him! The place was pretty well managed and he was my allocated deer basically!
