Erin Jones spent the morning with us sharing stories & messages of hope & unity. There were so many powerful messages, we couldnt get them all down, but here are a few of our favorites:

• Middle school is your dress rehearsal. Who are you right now? Who is the person you want to be?

• Three things to focus on now:

💫 1. Dreams - Imagine a word that is different than the world you live in now. Dream a dream bigger than you. What is something you can contribute to the world?

💪🏾 2. Courage - Courage is choosing to do the right thing when no one is watching or when no one is willing to do it with you. How can you show courage even when it’s hard?

💕 3. Love - Choose to see the great. MLK chose to love people who didn’t like him. How can you choose love everyday, even when you don’t feel like it?

• “To love a place is to be critical of that place, but to love that place. If I’m going to be critical of that thing, I’m going to be part of healing that thing.” - Erin Jones

• Don’t give people your energy those who don’t deserve it. Don’t give energy to a thing that doesn’t bring positivity. Fires get bigger with oxygen. Don’t give fires oxygen.

• “Don’t wait to dream until you’re old enough.” - Erin Jones

• How does fear keep us from dreaming? Dare to dream big…dare to do the thing because that thing will lead to other opportunities.

• This school is only as good as you. Use your dreams, courage and ability to make LMS it’s very best.

A huge Hawk PRIDE thank you to Erin for inspiring us to do better & be better, to our rockstar staff for making today’s assemblies work in the tightest of time crunches and to our students who participated respectfully and thoughtfully this morning.

Hawks! You gave out 💛 200 kindness cards 💛 this week! The table has been restocked with 100 more. Can you find 100 more people to recognize for their acts of kindness, empathy and respect? We think you can!

Our ASB team celebrated a semesters worth of event and activity planning with some hot cocoa and team building. They also welcomed the newest members of the team!

Unity Week 2024 kicks off on Tuesday! Next week we’ll honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., welcome Erin Jones & participate in lunch activities that celebrate kindness, empathy & respect. Get a jump start by spending your long weekend honoring Dr. King by showing your family, friends and community extra care and kindness. 💙
